On any other day, we'd be using this final entry to praise Hampshire's Colin de Grandhomme for his superb 174 not out against Surrey - and we are, but not in an extended form of words.

This day belongs - as so many others have in his long career - to England's James Anderson, who reached the 1,000 first-class wickets milestone as Lancashire skittled Kent for 74.

Anderson took a career-best 7-19 from 10 overs, with all his wickets caught by the keeper or in the slips. Zak Crawley was among his victims for nought on a bad day for England top-order batsmen, as Dom Sibley also failed to score and Rory Burns was dismissed for one.

Ben Duckett collects a single off Matt Critchley to end the day on 69 not out, with Notts 107 runs to the good against their depleted neighbours.

Derbyshire's attack stuck to their task well but Haseeb Hameed made 57 and Duckett has so far hit 10 fours in his 81-ball innings.

Ben Stokes marked his first Championship game for Durham with 3-55 on day two at Edgbaston and they will now be hoping to build a substantial first-innings lead against the Group One leaders.

Not such a good day for England team-mate Dom Sibley, who was the first Warwickshire batsman dismissed for a duck.

A single to Rob Jones is the only run from the final over, bowled by Joe Denly. He will start day three seven not out with Steven Croft on eight.

This day, though, was all about one man - Lancashire and England's James Anderson, who took a career-best 7-19 as Kent were all out in 26.2 overs.

Lancashire lead by 34 with five wickets standing.

We haven't seen a photo of Sussex batsman Danial Ibrahim, except under a helmet - until now. He's just 16 years of age and already has two Championship fifties, the second of them today. One to watch.

Preserving their wickets is uppermost in the minds of Steven Croft and Rob Jones at Old Trafford. The latest over from Harry Podmore is a maiden and there are three more to come.

Even though they are playing for stumps, Durham are not prepared to let easy runs go to waste and Cameron Bancroft flicks away a loose ball from Liam Norwell for four.

But Warwickshire have the breakthrough in the next one as Michael Jones is bowled by Craig Miles for eight.

Derbyshire pick up another wicket at Trent Bridge as Ben Aitchison finds just enough movement to have Joey Evison caught behind for 19. Brett Hutton is the new batsman.

Durham will want to avoid any damage in this seven-over mini-session at Edgbaston. Cameron Bancroft takes two from Liam Norwell's opening delivery but the other five are dot balls.

Ben Duckett has passed 450 Championship runs for the season in this innings and how he has a 61-ball half-century as well, reached with an old-fashioned tip and run for one off Ben Aitchison. Joey Evison is 14 not out at the other end.

Harry Brook leads Yorkshire to the close 76 not out and the lead 147.

It's been turning at Wantage Road with Dom Bess taking seven wickets as Northants could only take a first-inning advantage of 12.

And then Simon Kerrigan took four more.

If they can nudge the lead up towards 200, Yorkshire may be favourites.

Durham have run through Warwickshire with the new ball as the hosts lost their last seven wickets for 42 runs.

The slump began when Rob Yates was out for 102 to the old ball in the 74th over - but when Chris Rushworth had the new cherry in his hand 13 overs later the collapse began.

He had Will Rhodes caught at square leg by Michael Jones for 39 and then nobody else reached double figures, other than Danny Briggs, who was on 11 when he fell to a cracking piece of reflex fielding, caught and bowled by Ben Stokes.

For most of the day it looked like nothing was happening for the bowlers. but equally Warwickshire weren't running away from a runs point of view either. Durham have seven overs to see out tonight in gloomy conditions.

Josh Bohannon backs away for a square cut, but that's an arm ball from left-arm spinner James Logan and it cleans him up for 14.

Kent have fought back well here after the shock of being skittled earlier in the day by seven-wicket James Anderson.

A flashing square cut by Ben Duckett off Michael Cohen takes the Notts total past 200 and secures a first batting point. Another boundary follows in the next over from Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Duckett is now 47 not out.

Darren Stevens trundles in, Dane Vilas flashes hard and Zak Crawley takes a palm-stinging catch in front of his face at second slip.

Vilas is gone for eight and Steven Croft comes out to join Josh Bohannon, who is 13 not out.

Earlier in the day, we mentioned that Luke Fletcher's three wickets for Notts made him the leading Championship wicket-taker with 41.

Those two recently taken by Chris Rushworth for Durham have taken him back to the top of the list with 42.

He is still plugging away in the hope of further success and a Craig Miles single is the only run from his latest over.

Simon Kerrigan has a fourth wicket and Yorkshire's lead is 130.
