At 153-2 Gloucestershire were going very well mid-afternoon but they've only taken one batting point.
Miles Hammond's 75 led their progress but 30s from James Bracey and Tom Lace weren't enough.
A good comeback from Middlesex after tea and they'll be content after winning the toss.

Rain and bad light prevent any further play and Surrey will begin day three 446 runs in arrears, with Hashim Amla 24 not out and Will Jacks on one.
Earlier in the day, Colin de Grandhomme finished on 174 not out for Hampshire, with Surrey again hampered by Kyle Jamieson being unavailable for bowling duty. Hampshire number 11 Brad Wheal made a career-best 45 in their partnership of 114.

It's also the end of day two at Hove with the weather closing in.
16-year-old Dan Ibrahim made a second fifty for the hosts in his second game to underline his potential and carried his side to a batting point.
Glamorgan have lost regular wickets in reply and are struggling to get on terms.

The scores are level at Old Trafford as Josh Bohannon collects three runs off Matt Quinn. Another 20 scheduled in the day, but that may be optimistic.

For the third time this season Rob Yates has made a hundred in the County Championship. His previous centuries were 120* against Essex and 104 v Worcestershire. He has converted each 50 this year to three figures.
Today's came in a patient 238 balls and included 11 fours. However, he fell lbw the ball after he got there, to the bowling of Ben Raine, who had nearly had him twice in the over beforehand. A good leave and a near chop-on were interspersed by the boundary which brought up his hundred.
It's been a hard day from a wicket-taking point of view. Keeper Ned Eckersley even bowled an over of off-spin just before Durham took the new ball with Warwickshire 202-4.
Somerset 461-9d v Leics 95-3
The weather has got too much at Taunton and play is abandoned for the day.
A great one for Somerset with Nos. 8, 9 and 10 all making 70s.
Sky Sports tell us it's only the second instance of that happening in a first-class match.
It leaves Leicestershire with a mighty climb to try and stay in the game tomorrow and their top three have come and gone.
Northants 170 v Yorks 158 & 124-5
Yorkshire needed this - a half-century from their young wicketkeeper Harry Brook.
It's keeping their heads above water, 150-plus maybe a tricky target.
Notts 179-4 v Derbyshire 149
Ben Duckett is building a head of steam at Trent Bridge. He has 31 from 35 balls and is just one behind partner Lyndon James. The most recent over saw Alex Thomson guilty of a full toss which Duckett despatched to mid-wicket for four.

Don't talk about rain to anyone at Sussex after their T20 misery recently.
Sadly here's some more of it on the south coast.
Lancashire 71-3 v Kent 74
Keaton Jennings pushes tentatively forward at a ball from Matt Quinn and Zak Crawley takes the catch at second slip to send him on his way for 14.
Luke Wells - on three - faces the next delivery at the start of a new Matt Milnes over and a steepling top edge is safely taken at square leg by James Logan.
That should lift Kentish spirits a little.
Warwickshire 207-4 v Durham
Warwickshire have their first batting point and Will Rhodes drives elegantly back past bowler Chris Rushworth for four in the latest over. He moves on to 34 not out. Matt Lamb is at the other end on one.
Notts 161-4 v Derbyshire 149
Notts are out in front at Trent Bridge and Lyndon James hits successive fours off Luis Reece, a cut and a pull shot. Both deliveries were too short and asking to be punished. James is 31 not out and Ben Duckett has 14.

They had lost 3-1 and looked likely to fall short.

Alex Davies is a little cross with himself. He attempts a late cut off Matt Quinn but the ball takes the top edge and Jordan Cox clings onto a sharp chance at first slip to end his bright and breezy 43-ball knock. Luke Wells comes out with 11 runs needed to surpass Kent's paltry total.
Hampshire 488 v Surrey 42-4
After two balls of a Brad Wheal over, rain arrives to provide a bit of relief for Surrey. Hashim Amla is 24 not out and Will Jacks is on one. In theory, there are 22 more overs to be bowled when this one is completed.

Off at Taunton and at a bad time for Leicestershire with Colin Ackermann and Josh Inglis beginning to settle into a stand.

Alex Davies is a pretty uncomplicated player. If it's there to be hit, he hits it. Two square cuts for four off Matt Milnes take the Lancashire total past 50. They're not the savage square cuts Gordon Greenidge and Robin Smith used to unfurl, but effective nonetheless.
