  2. 'We wanted to bring this trophy back to Bob's spiritual home'published at 12:14 British Summer Time 1 October 2021

Warwickshire (518) bt Lancashire (78 & 241) by an innings and 199 runs

Winning Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes on Sky Sports: "It has been a rollercoaster of a few weeks, losing to Hampshire and then winning three games in a row to win these trophies is fantastic. I'm really proud of the guys.

"Coming here to Lord's with another trophy on the line was motivation enough. And with Bob Willis' connections to Warwickshire, we wanted to bring his trophy back to his spiritual home. That gave us more motivation to do well.

"You always believe you can win the Championship, but whether you can go on and do it is something else. We knew we had the squad to do it. We had a couple of good early wins against Nottinghamshire and Essex and then you start believing, and we got on a bit of a roll really."

  3. 'All credit to Warwickshire'published at 12:09 British Summer Time 1 October 2021

Warwickshire (518) bt Lancashire (78 & 241) by an innings and 199 runs

Lancashire captain Dane Vilas on Sky Sports: "The boys were a bit upset with me for losing the toss, but I don't think it was that bad! They bowled incredibly well and put us under massive pressure. To be 10-4 and 12-6, it was always going to be difficult to come back from that.

"We had those up and down rollercoaster emotions (of last week), but we were really keen to come down here and do well and win this trophy for Bob. It's always special to play at Lord's so it's a little disappointing how we played, but all credit to Warwickshire. They outplayed us and deserve both trophies.

"We ticked most of the boxes we wanted this season. Unfortunately we didn't tick all of them, but it's been a good season. Everyone has put their hand up and to have two guys in the team of the year in the four-day stuff has been fantastic. But we have a lot to improve on, especially with such a young squad."

  5. New faces for Lord's rivalspublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 1 October 2021

Warwickshire (518) bt Lancashire (78 & 241) by an innings and 199 runs

Warwickshire and Lancashire will both have at least one new face in their squads when the 2022 season gets under way as they look to repeat their impressive performances of this summer.

Alex Davies - who only managed scores of seven and 11 in the Bob Willis Trophy final - will be making a move from Old Trafford to Edgbaston.

But the Red Rose county have already secured a ready-made replacement, with Phil Salt heading north from Sussex over the winter.

  7. Lancs avoid domestic ignominypublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 1 October 2021

Warwickshire (518) bt Lancashire (78 & 241) by an innings and 199 runs

Lancashire have been well and truly thumped over the last four days, but Tom Bailey's four off the penultimate ball of the match saved it being a week they would never forget for the wrong reasons.

That took them up to the 241 they needed to avoid their worst ever domestic first-class innings defeat of 200 runs by old rivals Yorkshire in 1938.

A spectacular way to end the match and the season for Warwickshire.

Tom Bailey tries to pull Liam Norwell for four but can only get it high in the bat. It loops into the legside where wicketkeeper Michael Burgess runs from behind the stumps to take a superb diving catch in the outfield.

Warwickshire comprehensively win a match they have dominated ever since winning the toss on Tuesday morning.

Congratulations to the Bears for doing the double of County Championship and Bob Willis Trophy.

The wily left-arm spinner gets his man!

He throws one up, but this time wider of off stump and it goes past Jack Blatherwick's bat. He is out of his crease and Michael Burgess completes the stumping.

    Good comeback from Briggs.

    The end is nigh.

    BOOM!published at 11:28 British Summer Time 1 October 2021

    Lancashire 78 & 228-8 v Warwickshire 464-7

Jack Blatherwick dances down the wicket to Danny Briggs and plants him over long-on for six. Boom! The first one of the match.

He then gets a full toss and whacks that for four as well.

  16. That should do it!published at 11:25 British Summer Time 1 October 2021

    Lancashire 78 & 222-8 v Warwickshire 518

Tom Bailey is as Lancastrian as they come and he won't want to be in a team that ends up with the county's worst ever first-class defeat.

So he thumps two boundaries and then grabs a single off Liam Norwell to take the score past the record of an innings and 220 runs against the West Indies in 1950.

    The eighth wicket is down.

Danny Briggs gets some sharp turn bowling round the wicket to spin past Rob Jones' defences. Briggs appeals and it's given.

A first thought was that it may have pitched outside leg-stump. It would definitely have been reviewed if that was available. Jones was not happy with that call.

  19. Desperate to impresspublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 1 October 2021

    Lancashire 78 & 211-7 v Warwickshire 518

Great enthusiasm from Manraj Johal as he tries to stop Rob Jones from picking up a boundary - shame he dives over it though as it goes for four.

In classic fashion, the next ball is down to Johal again but he slips as he scampers in and Jones gets two more.

We can all imagine how he would have been received at fine leg if there was a big crowd in!
