    Breaking

    Middlesex 169-9 v Surrey 223-7

Sam Curran finishes off the Middlesex innings by bowling Steven Finn.

He finishes with 4-29 and it's a comfortable victory for Surrey in the end.

Will Jacks did the damage with the bat, scoring 70 runs off 24 balls as Surrey posted 223-7.

Paul Stirling led the Middlesex reply but once he, Stevie Eskinazi and Eoin Morgan went, the hosts had little chance of victory as the required run-rate increased sharply.

    Green c Smtih v S Curran 19 (Middlesex 167-8 v Surrey 223-7)

    Another one!

Chris Green gets the slightest of edges at the bottom of his bat and is caught behind.

The Australian walks as Sam Curran claims his third of the match.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.1 overs

Sowter run out (S Curran) 1 (Middlesex 165-7v Surrey 223-7)

Nathan Sowter sets off, looking to get Chris Green back on strike.

Sam Curran gathers the loose ball, turns and has plenty of time to roll the ball onto the stumps at the bowler's end.

Sowter was well short of his ground.

It's all so futile for Middlesex.

  6. Postpublished at 19 overs

    Middlesex 165-6 v Surrey 223-7

Into the final throes, with Middlesex having no hope of turning this match around.

Tom Curran can't emulate his brother and grab a wicket in his last owner.

Chris Green drills his final delivery back down the ground for four.

That means Middlesex need 59 from the final over to win.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18 overs

    Hollman c Jacks b S Curran 0 (Middlesex 154-6 v Surrey 223-7)

A futile swing of the bat from Luke Hollman sees him out for a duck, and Sam Curran gets his second wicket with his final ball of the over.

This game was pretty much over as a contest when Eoin Morgan departed.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.4 overs

    Simpson c Overton v S Curran 4 (Middlesex 153-5 v Surrey 223-7)

Tom's brother Sam Curran had a mixed time at the start, with three runs off his first over and then 18 from his second.

He returns at the death to help Surrey see out what will be a comfortable victory.

Chris Green and John Simpson can't dig much out as the left-armer bowls a tight first three balls of full deliveries.

Simpson then strikes out, but can only find Jamie Overton at deep midwicket.

    Middlesex 150-4 v Surrey 223-7

    Tom CurranImage source, Rex Features

Tom Curran has been a big factor in Surrey strangling the Middlesex run-rate.

His first two overs went for just 10 runs, and the right-armer keeps it similarly tight here.

Add in a run-out and two catches - one of them an absolute peach to remove Stevie Eskinazi - and Curran will be saying the blue headband he's sporting is a lucky one before too long.

One of John Simpson and Chris Green needs to do a madness to win this one for Middlesex now.

They've brought up the 150 but now need 74 from three overs.

  10. Postpublished at 16 overs

    Middlesex 145-4 v Surrey 223-7

    Sensational over from Gareth Batty.

He goes away with a slight limp, after catching one ball on his left ankle.

The Surrey skipper has figures of 1-14 from his three overs, and the visitors are closing in on victory.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.3 overs

    Holden b Batty 5 (Middlesex 144-4 v Surrey 223-7)

Max Holden hasn't found it easy to get into the groove, and goes after trying to force things.

The left-hander leaves his stumps exposed to the spin of Gareth Batty while looking to make space to hit out.

The game is really drifting away from Middlesex now.

Chris Green has come to the crease, and the hosts need a miracle.

  12. Postpublished at 15 overs

    Middlesex 142-3 v Surrey 223-7

Eleven runs come off the over in the end, but Jordan Clark picked up the crucial wicket of Eoin Morgan.

    John Simpson joins Max Holden.

The hosts now need 82 runs from 30 deliveries.

At over 16 runs an over, it's a big, big ask.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.3 overs

    Morgan c T Curran b Clark 32 (Middlesex 137-3 v Surrey 223-7

Is that the wicket which will break Middlesex's spirit?

Eoin Morgan gets a bit of luck as he edges Jordan Clark for four from the first ball of the 15th.

Clark then slips in two wide deliveries.

But then Morgan goes on the attack, and is caught by Tom Curran at deep square leg as he fails to connect properly.

    Middlesex 131-2 v Surrey 223-7

Moriarty responds well, as Eoin Morgan can only get him away for a single.

The spinner then beats the bat of Max Holden, who hasn't offered much since coming in.

Holden is almost run out chasing a single, then Moriarty throws in a wide down the leg side.

Morgan retains the strike off the final ball of the innings.

Middlesex need 93 from 36 balls.

  15. 6 runs

    Middlesex 127-2 v Surrey 223-7

    Now Eoin Morgan attacks.

He shuffles down the pitch to smash Daniel Moriarty for six at the longest part of the ground.

Then it's another maximum straight down the ground from the England skipper.

    Don't write Middlesex off yet...

  16. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Middlesex 115-2 v Surrey 223-7

Tom Curran continues and the pressure continues to build.

He bowls four dot balls as he mixes up his deliveries.

With two more full deliveries, Middlesex can only register singles.

Surrey are firmly on top at the moment.

    109 needed off seven overs.

  17. Postpublished at 12 overs

    Middlesex 113-2 v Surrey 223-7

A fine over from Daniel Moriarty, as just five runs come from it and Stevie Eskinazi departs too.

The run rate is creeping up for Middlesex, and almost up to 14 runs an over.

Max Holden has joined Eoin Morgan, making it two left-handers in the middle. The hosts will need to start teeing off soon.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.2 overs

    Eskinazi c T Curran b Moriaty 36 (Middlesex 109-2 v Surrey 223-7)

Tom Curran catchImage source, Rex Features

A BRILLIANT catch by Tom Curran snags Stevie Eskinazi.

The batsman edges Daniel Moriarty and Curran, fielding at backward point, runs backwards, watches the ball over his shoulder and sticks out his right arm.

He holds on, and spreads his arms to take the acclaim of his team mates.

That's a big wicket for the visitors.

  19. Postpublished at 11 overs

    Middlesex 108-1 v Surrey 223-7

Tom Curran, sporting a snazzy blue bandana to keep his hair back, comes into the Surrey attack.

Eoin Morgan gets his first four, slapping one away to wide midwicket despite mis-timing his shot slightly.

Three singles follow, the last from a yorker, before Curran finishes with a dot-ball bouncer.

Middlesex really need to trade in boundaries to stay in the hunt. Stevie Eskinazi has 36 from 32 balls.

  20. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Middlesex 100-1 v Surrey 223-7

Midway through the chase, and Middlesex bring up the hundred.

The hosts are still in this, but the rate is almost at 12.5 an over.

They need 124 in the second half of their innings.
