Very good start. Tammy Beaumont plays proper cricket shots. She looks to hit the ball straight and on the ground. She is controlled and measured.

This is a very good start from Spirit, and they still have plenty of quality batting to come.

Go on Tammy. That is what we like to see. She has a lot of time at the crease. We spoke about the intent to come down the wicket and meet the ball on the full. She is trying to upset Johnson's length.

  5. Spirit 18-0published at 91 balls left

Timed! A proper cricket shot from Beaumont, driving along the turf back down the ground.

  6. Spirit 13-0published at 92 balls left

Having opened the batting, Sammy-Jo Johnson has the ball in hand.

And England's Tammy Beaumont has her first runs in The Hundred as she leans forward and clips her through the leg side for four.

Big ask. But I think they have the quality to do it. What a top six the Spirit have. You would like to see some of them get going, targeting that short boundary.

  20. 'Really nice to get some runs'published at 16:19 British Summer Time 29 July 2021

Trent Rockets' Rachel Priest on Sky Sports: "I've unfortunately been making a notoriously slow start at these tournaments, but it was really nice to get some runs. It's a really nice wicket.

"Today was just about being a little bit clearer in the mind. I was a bit scrambled in the first couple of games, and today was about see ball and hit ball.

"It is a beautiful ground, and it really runs away once you get it. It just came off for me today.

"We always think we've got enough runs on the board, but this is a really good team, so we're going to have to be on top of our game."
