What a piece of fielding that is! A wonderful direct hit that just dislodged one bail.

Redmayne run out (Bryce) 1 (Fire 39-2)

Hayley Matthews is the picture of concentration, although she is only eight off 18 balls. She steps in front of her stumps and uses her wrists to nudge one to the legs side.

Next ball there's some indecision from Georgia Redmayne as she sets off to take a single. It proves costly and despite a dive she is short of her ground as Kathryn Bryce gets a direct hit with her throw.

    A brilliant piece of fielding.

  3. Fire 38-1published at 35 balls

Sarah Glenn appears to have shook off that little injury from fielding earlier to bowl her leggies. The final delivery of the set hangs in the air and Georgia Redmayne sweeps her square, but the sweep scoops up the ball prevents the boundary. Clever use of pace by Glenn.

Katherine Brunt to Hayley Matthews again next.

That was very well bowled - a very good length and I think Smith felt a bit of pressure because Matthews was struggling to score at the other end. Still a very good knock, though.

    Fire 34-0published at 29 balls

Sammy-Jo Johnson with a slower ball, but Bryony Smith picks it out the hand. The Fire batter shimmies down the pitch before whipping it powerfully for six over the boundary at cow corner.

Next ball Smith drives it through the covers for four.

  10. Fire 22-0published at 25 balls

Katherine Brunt has that look of fierce determination on her face. She's clearly relishing the contest with Hayley Matthews.

Brunt has the upper hand from the first four balls of the set - all dots - before straying on to Matthews' pads, and she nurdles it for one off the last ball.

  12. Fire 21-0published at 20 balls

Long boundaries either side of the wicket at Sophia Gardens. Both batters adjusting to the pace of the pitch at the moment. Sense we might see a few more boundaries when Hayley Matthews gets going.

That was a very good piece of fielding from Sarah Glenn. It was just under the press box here and looked as if she landed awkwardly on her neck, but she gets a round of applause from the crowd behind her as she makes her way back on to the pitch.

You have to be a bit careful with a dive like that. A lot of times, you can fall on your shoulder.

  15. Fire 19-0published at 16 balls

A dive down on the boundary by Sarah Glenn attempting to prevent a four after Bryony Smith chipped the ball over the top.

Glenn looked in some pain afterwards but she's okay - and saved herself two runs.

That's a brilliant shot - she picked up the short ball early and put her bat through it.

  18. Fire 15-0published at 12 balls

Kathryn Bryce into the attack, and second ball up she drops it a touch short and is punished by Bryony Smith who cuts it powerfully between point and cover.

    Clinical.

  19. Fire 10-0published at 10 balls

Sammy-Jo Johnson, sporting a black head band, saunters into the breeze at Sophia Gardens. Hayley Matthews digs out a full ball to pinch a single.

ball later there is a big heave across the line from Bryony Smith to a low full toss but she finds the fielder on the deep square boundary.

It's a solid start from Welsh Fire.

  20. Fire 6-0published at 5 balls

Bryony Smith rocks on her heels and pulls Katherine Brunt through mid-wicket for a single. It brings Hayley Matthews on strike and she is off the mark with a brisk single following a defensive prod.
