  1. Another positive Covid test for Superchargerspublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 12 August 2021

A bit of news to bring you ahead of this afternoon's game. The Northern Superchargers have released the following statement...

"One Northern Superchargers Women's player has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unavailable for today's fixture against Manchester Originals at Emerald Headingley as we wait for the results of a PCR test. Two other members of the squad are isolating as a precaution and will therefore miss today's game. All other members of the squad remain unaffected."

This comes after two of the Superchargers' men's squad returned positive tests.

One big positive I can report on is the weather. After a few days with showers, the sun has been shining most of today in Leeds so we will certainly be getting plenty of cricket.

Kate Cross calls right and the Originals will bowl. Over to you, Superchargers, set us a score.

Away from all the roses rivalry, and purely in a competition sense, this afternoon's game sees a rock-bottom Originals team taking on a Superchargers outfit who are still firmly in the mix to make the eliminator.

With just one more league game each after this, we are well and truly into the business end.

  5. War of the Roses...published at 15:13 British Summer Time 12 August 2021

It doesn't matter what sport it is, or what version of said sport, when Leeds and Manchester, Yorkshire and Lancashire, white rose and red rose clash, it is a big deal.

Now, I appreciate that the Northern Superchargers are not expressly Leeds, but they are based at Headingley and have a healthy Yorkshire representation in their side. So if it means Durham come along for a high-stakes, emotional battle against the foes from over the Pennines, I don't think anyone will grumble, right?
