It is a procession. Not a particularly good ball but the pressure situation and knowing you have to hit the ball hard to beat the fielders. There are more revs on the ball and it gets more lift to catch the edge. Now, unless the Phoenix can pull something out of the bag they are really struggling.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 54 balls left

    Davies c Priest b Glenn 0 (Phoenix 58-5)

This could be over in a hurry now.

Gwen Davies rocks back, facing leg-spinner Sarah Glenn, unfurls a big cut shot but it's too close to her and Glenn always gets a bit of extra bounce.

A thin nick through to keeper Rachel Priest and that's an easy decision for the umpire.

Off trudges Davies for a two-ball duck.

The Rockets turning the screw here and showing why they are such a good team. Mack went through the shot too early and got a leading edge. It was like everything went in slow motion. It is another important wicket. It is now looking like the Rockets are putting themselves into an unassailable position. But you never know. It only takes one partnership.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 56 balls left

    Mack c&b Johnnson 7 (Phoenix 58-4)

The return of the Mack - to the hutch.

Katie Mack it totally duped by a slower ball by Sammy Jo-Johnson and chips a return catch to the left of the Australian seamer.

Johnson has plenty of work to do though and moves well to dive across and snaffle it.

This Phoenix is staying in the ashes right now.

  6. Phoenix 58-3published at 57 balls left

Katie Mack cuts firmly away for four. Plenty more of that needed.

Big wicket. Slow, wide and loopy, almost enticing her. She reaches for it and gets a thick outside edge. Three wickets down and the Trent Rockets have flipped this around.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 59 balls left

    A Jones c Glenn b Johnson 9 (Phoenix 53-3)

And that's what scoreboard pressure so often leads to...

Amy Jones knows she needs to find the fence to up the scoring, steps deep in her crease to the returning Sammy-Jo Johnson, brings out the big drive but miscues it.

The ball loops up off the edge to Sarah Glenn at short third.

A massive wicket and I reckon the Rockets are firmly on top now.

Davis continues and keeps it tight again, just four more from five balls.

Phoenix putting themselves into a bit of trouble.

Never really got going there. This is a great opportunity now for the Rockets to build some pressure, squeeze the field and get them right in the batter's face.

  13. Phoenix 49-2published at 65 balls left

Phoenix are stalling a bit now.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 68 balls left

    E Jones lbw Davis 13 (Phoenix 47-2)

Contender for worst of review of all time? Hitting the middle of the knee roll, dead in front and striking the middle of middle stump.

Amy Jones as captain probably should've stopped her doing that. She'll hope it won't cost her side later.

Eve Jones did at least walk off before the third umpire even got to ball tracking, realising her mistake.

It is going to be a brave review if she does. I think this is cannoning into middle.

  16. Phoenix reviewpublished at 68 balls left

Eve Jones is plumb lbw. Given out. And yet opts to completely and utterly waste a review.

  17. Phoenix 44-1published at 69 balls left

Horror start from Georgia Davis - conceding five wides first ball.

  18. 70 balls to go - worm updatepublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 13 August 2021

The worm shows Birmingham Phoenix Women are four runs behind Trent Rockets Women. Birmingham Phoenix Women are 39 for 1 after 30 balls. At the same stage Trent Rockets Women were 43 for 1.

Evenly balanced at the moment. That the Phoenix have only lost one wicket which gives them a bit of an advantage. But you are only a couple of wickets from tying the batters down.

  20. Phoenix 39-1published at 70 balls left

    Need 87 runs to win

England leg-spinner Sarah Glenn enters the fray and that's a very productive over for the Phoenix.

Amy Jones sweeps it away for four.

Then Eve Jones (no relation) mows a short ball straight back down the ground for four more.
