I don't want to put the mockers on but the mizzle is getting stronger...

These covers are the real deal now, sheets and all. This doesn't look good at all, I hate to say.

Umbrellas are popping up around the stands and more grey clouds are ready to pounce.

  3. Ind 57-1published at 18.2

Cross adjusts her messy bun - very nicely, I must add. You've got to balance messy and effortless but also looking tidy at the same time.

And as I get carried away with hair chat, the covers come back on. Boo.

  4. Ind 56-1published at 18 overs

Sharma wants a second run - not surprising as she is one from 41, but Verma turns it down. Who needs singles when you can just hit fours?

  5. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

Oh and now the rain is back.

Not heavy enough for the players to go off, but just enough to warrant a few towels being stuffed into pockets to dry the ball.

It was a rising delivery. Verma had a stab at it. First slip was a little too wide.

  7. Ind 56-1published at 17 overs

    Sharma 1, Verma 45

A simple defensive shot up to mid-off to end an eventful over, as they often are when the prodigious Verma is at the crease.

  8. Ind 56-1published at 16.4 overs

It's all happening now after what felt like a thousand dot balls! Verma nicks one behind, just past a diving Heather Knight slip and runs away for another boundary.

  9. Ind 52-1published at 16.3 overs

Outrageous from Verma, yet again. She has taken one step down the track and launched Cross back over her head for four.

In the words of Isabelle Westbury, how do you even do that?!

Kate Cross is on to bowl and has none of Ecclestone's ponytail disruption - she's gone for the messy bun look. A classic.

  11. Ind 48-1published at 16 overs

    Sharma 1, Verma 37

You can see the strength of the wind blowing Sophie Ecclestone's long ponytail all over the place. Long-hair-in-cricket problems, I know the feeling.

Sharma drives nicely but finds a sprawling cover fielder.

In amongst the maiden-fest, we can bring you Shafali Verma's late-cuts that have had us all drooling.

Verma has played immaculately, nice clips off the legs, drives through the covers. Then all of a sudden, bang, she swings for it.

Sharma, naturally, blocks out the rest of the over. A familiar sight.

  15. Ind 46-1published at 14.2 overs

Shafali Verma lets out a little bit of frustration as she takes a huge heave at Katherine Brunt and completely misses.

Brunt shakes her head which basically means, what on earth are you doing?

But there have been a lot of dots recently, so I'm not surprised to see that from the 17-year-old.

  16. Ind 46-1published at 14 overs

Henry's prediction is correct, this morning's hero Sophie Ecclestone is into the attack.

Bowling in her woolly jumper, she bowls a tidy maiden over. Deepti Sharma now has one from 33 balls.

The weather wins! But we do have a reserve day, thankfully.

We might not be too far away from seeing spin.

  20. Ind 46-1published at 13 overs

Katherine Brunt attempts a short ball but Verma is having none of it - it's wide of off-stump and she just watches it go past.

    Another maiden.
