At the start, perhaps because of early, gloom-induced nerves, the beat provided by the India fans was kept to between overs or to celebrate a boundary. In the last couple of overs they’ve provided a continuous backing track throughout. Lovely stuff and a sign of growing confidence?

You can see the New Zealanders are look a little uptight and that's understandable because of the occasion, this is such an important game for them.
Stylistically the two sides are very contrasting, the way they play the game. India are like a royal flush if you're a pack of cards while New Zealand rely on team-work, discipline and those kind of fundamentals.
On the subject of multi-tasking, has anyone considered going to both of these Tests? Bristol today, Southampton tomorrow?

Shafali Verma has played one false shot to Sophie Ecclestone already this morning - we only saw one in the whole of her innings yesterday.
There goes Shafali Verma. Pitched up from spinner Ecclestone and Verma gives it the beans. An aerial drive could have gone anywhere, but instead slides off the face of the bat and lands safely in the covers.

What we're seeing is New Zealand pitching the ball up as they did against England. Whereas England couldn't handle that, India are watching the ball closely and picking the fuller deliveries.
Pursed lips and furrowed brows from the New Zealanders. They know they haven't got it quite right so far today. There is a pressure when you win the toss and choose to field.

I think it's India 1-0 New Zealand.
It was a decent toss to win, the right decision was made by New Zealand and the right team was selected. With the pitch, the rain, the clouds, it all says bowl. Especially when your main threat is movement.
