  1. Eng 32-0published at 5 overs

Lovely from Jason Roy. He stands still - perhaps for the first time tonight - and slaps Sheldon Cottrell just wide of mid-on and away to the boundary.

Oh! A short ball hits a pulling Roy on the helmet and the ball loops up to Cottrell to gather in his follow through. There's an appeal, but the umpire says no. Roy seems absolutely fine but will go through the concussion protocols to be safe.

England were 24-4 at this point last night.

Back to pace for West Indies.

Sheldon Cottrell and his left-arm pace is back on.

Once again, there is some serious turn and bounce in this surface. It's tricky. Roy seems to be struggling with himself ever so slightly.

  4. Eng 25-0published at 4 overs

Four more. Tom Banton brings out the reverse sweep now and nails it between cover and point for his third boundary.

This pitch looks a slightly nicer one to bat on.

  5. Eng 19-0published at 3.2 overs

    Gorgeous.

Jason Roy moves slightly outside off stump and reverse paddles over point for his first boundary.

That is some courage from Roy because the first ball bounced and beat the outside edge.

    Double change for the hosts.

Left-arm spinner Fabien Allen replaces Jason Holder.

  7. Eng 15-0published at 3 overs

    Good cricket from Tom Banton.

He works the following ball for a single, before Jason Roy keeps the strike with a push down to long-off.

Roy, for someone who smashed 115 in the warm-up game, looks like he is struggling for fluency at the moment.

  8. 6 runs

    Eng 13-0published at 2.3 overs

    Trademark Tom Banton.

He goes on the sweep, for the second time in the over, and clears the square-leg boundary.

Excellent grab in the crowd too.

  9. Postpublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2022

Oh. A change in plan from West Indies.

Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein is on.

Sarah Gosling: Ok. Lovely day visiting my Mum. Tired after the 250-mile round trip though so let’s see if some T20 cricket can lift the energy - I’ve a delicious G&T just to be sure!

  11. Eng 7-0published at 2 overs

Jason Holder, who took 4-7 last night, will share the new ball again. He starts brilliantly again, with just a Tom Banton single coming off the over.

Banton was looking to ramp too, but got in a tangle, and Jason Roy is again beaten looking to slap through the covers.

England were 10-3 at this point last night, so at least we're not in that territory.

Alex Thomas: England’s batting has mirrored my love life in the last few months… seems to say all the right things on the apps when you preview it, but is a constant failure in real life. Hoping a turn-around this evening signals a comeback, on both counts!

Tom Banton then works a single off his hips, before Jason Roy misses the final ball of the over with a big booming drive.

England have at least avoided losing a wicket in the first over tonight.

  14. Eng 5-0published at 0.2 overs

That's a nice ball to receive first up.

After Jason Roy takes a single, Tom Banton works one fine, off his hips, for the first boundary of the day.

England's batting approach will be interesting. Yesterday they talked about not adapting. Will they be more cautious? That would be unlike a Morgan team.

After the national anthems and both teams taking the knee, we are ready to go in Barbados.

It'll be left-armer Sheldon Cottrell first up to Jason Roy again.

Back to focusing on the second T20 in Barbados.

There was some rain around earlier and there is a chance we'll see some more.

But, for now, the sun is shining.

South Africa won a thrilling third one-day international against India by four runs to seal a series clean sweep.

Quinton de Kock made 124 as South Africa were bowled out for 287 with the penultimate ball of their innings.

India were going well at 116-1 in reply, but Andile Phehlukwayo removed both Shikhar Dhawan and Rishbah Pant in the 23rd over to claw them back.

Virat Kohli fell eight overs later for 65, before India were bowled out for 283 with four balls left.

It completes a disappointing tour for India, who lost a three-Test series 2-1 earlier in January.

England batter Tammy Beaumont has been named women's Twenty20 international cricketer of the year by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Opener Beaumont, 30, was voted top ahead of England team-mate Nat Sciver, Ireland's Gaby Lewis and India's Smriti Mandhana.

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was voted men's T20 international cricketer of the year.

"It's a huge privilege to win," said Beaumont.

"My T20 career has had its ups and downs and I don't think I've always been known for my T20 abilities, so this award gives me a huge amount of confidence."

Beaumont scored 303 runs in nine T20s in 2021, the most of any England batter and third most of any women's player.
