Kieron Pollard has wised up pretty quickly here. Having seen Dominic Drakes pumped for two sixes in the previous over he's taken the pace off the ball and let the pitch do the work instead.

Three runs off the bat in that over plus a leg-bye.

Arjun Singh: A lovely 20-odd from Vince. Cover and extra cover are now well and truly in the game.

England opener Jason Roy brings up his eighth T20I half-century in style, pulling Dominic Drakes across the line over the fence at midwicket.

It's taken him 34 balls to reach fifty.

A must-win game for England today, if they want to square the five-match series at 2-2 with one to play.

Dominic Drakes is heaved back over his head by James Vince. Jason Roy has set the tone but Vince is starting to get going now.

Hywel Gibbs: Following on from Steve's tweet earlier about Drakes, he was playing for Lamphey CC. A few years later a young Australian/West Indian played for us called Brendan Nash so we've had two West Indians grace our turf. Three if you include Sir Viv in an exhibit game.

Spin now for the West Indies as Akeal Hosein bowls around the wicket. England happy to nudge and nurdle him for singles.

Final ball of the over and Jason Roy squirts it the boundary with a powerful cut for four.

Roy is unbeaten on 44 while James Vince is 17 not out.

  7. 6 runs

    Eng 57-1published at 6.5 overs

Dominic Drakes, Vasbert's son, into the action and the left-armer's slower ball deceives Jason Roy but he's got enough bat on it to edge the ball through third man for four.

A few balls later and James Vince picks up a maximum in the same part of Kensington Oval with an equally fortuitous attempted drive.

England will be happy with that powerplay total. It's probably a little bit above par, on a pitch that looks to me like it will get trickier to bat on later.

Romario Shepherd is a tad full to Jason Roy and the England opener times it perfectly again, this time whacking him straight over wide long-off's head and into the crowd.

End of the powerplay and a solid start for England.

  10. Eng 38-1published at 5.2 overs

A deft touch from Jason Roy this time, as he plays the ball late and uses the pace of Romario Shepherd to guide it through the gully region for four.

At the risk of sounding incredibly trite, that was the over that England desperately needed.

Crunch. That made a lovely sound off the bat.

Jason Roy plants his front foot and times one right off the meat of his willow and pummels Sheldon Cottrell back over his head and out of the ground.

That ball will probably make a nice souvenir for someone outside the Kensington Oval. Think a new one will be needed.

Steve: Roy Banton sounds like an Eastenders character.

  14. Eng 20-1published at 4.1 overs

That's more like it from James Vince. He's on to the back foot and waspishly cuts Sheldon Cottrell to the boundary for four. That shot oozed class.

The cameras cut to Eoin Morgan in the stands and he is smiling appreciatively.

A lovely tale that, Steve. There's a similar story in the league I play in where Collis King took a five-for, smashed a century then put 50p in a fruit machine after the game and immediately paid out the jackpot.

Steve Couzens: We played against Vasbert Drakes mid-1990’s in the Pembrokeshire Village League. He took 9-12 off a half run-up having already smashed a quick 50. Hope his lad goes well.

  17. Eng 13-1published at 2.5 overs

Jason Roy creams Sheldon Cottrell's first ball of the over for four before he clubs it to mid-on for a single.

Now. Picture a James Vince waft outside off stump. Stylish, expansive and elegant, of course. He is fortunate to not have got any bat on that and edge through to the wicketkeeper.

There is a bit of extra bounce in this pitch, but I wonder if it is a little bit two-paced. Pace off the ball might be the key, judging from what we've seen in these first two overs.

Tom Banton advances down the pitch and a delivery from Jason Holder gets big on him. Banton had already committed to the shot and ends up sending it skywards to mid-on off the splice of the bat where Kyle Mayers takes a simple catch.

Banton rather gave his wicket away there. Too premeditated.

  20. Eng 7-0published at 1.0 overs

    England up and running.

A brief check to see if Brandon King touched the boundary with a brilliant diving save, after Jason Roy punched it neatly through the mid-off region. England run three.

The final ball of Sheldon Cottrell's over is a thick edge off Tom Banton's bat and races away for four.
