There were groans of dismay from the India fans when Rohit was out. They turned into gasps of disbelief when Southee's catch was replayed on the big screen.
Rohit did nothing more than hung his bat out to dry there. A limp way to get out.

The length they have bowled has not been good and the first time Jamieson has bowled the perfect length he's had Rohit caught.

The catch was taken very well by Southee. My word, New Zealand needed that.
Rohit c Southee b Jamieson 34 (IndM 62-1)
There's the breakthrough!
Rohit Sharma makes an error and is punished. Wide and swinging away from Kyle Jamieson. Rohit doesn't need to play but follows it. A thick edge is well held by a tumbling Tim Southee at third slip.
Relief for New Zealand.

The runs are coming pretty steadily. This is a disappointing morning for New Zealand, it really is.
He makes a good point, doesn't he?

They seem to have turned the stump mics back up. They seemed low earlier, and I wondered if that was a reaction to what we heard over previous days. Maybe it's just picking up the buoyant chatter of England.

It's worth another look at that Katherine Brunt catch, isn't it?
However, since Verma fell, Punam Raut has looked accomplished. There are five catchers around the bat as Ecclestone twirls in, but India are slowly chipping away at England's lead.

It's surprising the bowler hasn't seen that. The umpire has, so why hasn't he?

Big cheers around the Hampshire bowl as Rohit's inside edge is shown on the big screen before the beat kicks in again. The India fans want to see a lot more of Rohit today.
IndM 53-0
A sign of how badly it's gone for New Zealand in this first session is the shocking nature of this review. De Grandhomme wants an lbw against Rohit, but there's a huge inside edge. How did they not spot that in the first place? Review wasted.

Dinesh Karthik was also with me, he posted a photograph of us and the Serbia team called up a few hotels and found the one we were at.
We were both happy to go see them. We met up with them in the afternoon and again in the evening, we spoke to them and tried to encourage them.
The more the game is played all over the world, the better.

Our gaffer, Marc Higginson, has now told us he once got a lift back from Headingley in the boot of a car because he missed the train. What is is about being in the boot of a car?

Katherine Brunt is now being referred to as Jonty by her team-mates.

On the subject of the lengths people have gone to in order to get to cricket, my live text colleague Kal Sajad has just revealed he once hid in the boot of the car in order to get into Canterbury without paying.
He says he was 12 at the time. I think he was 21.

I don't know how you play that? The ball almost went onto his stumps.
Do let me know of your great cricketing journeys.
Meanwhile, Kyle Jamieson has had enough of Shubman Gill walking down the pitch and has pinned him in the grille with a bumper.

The day before we left, we went to see the Serbian national cricket team. They were practising in an indoor facility. It was good to see there is a team in Serbia as well.
