Mark Wood has had a short back and sides before this Test. I think he has been to the same barber as James Anderson.

Mark Wood has had a short back and sides before this Test. I think he has been to the same barber as James Anderson.
A thick outside edge from the bat of Marcus Harris adds another couple to the total, before Mark Wood slides the final delivery just past his outstretched bat.
A slightly awkward-looking drive from Marcus Harris beats a sprawling Stuart Broad, and it's got enough oomph on it to pick up four through long-on.
Wood responds with a misdirected bouncer that the umpire is having none of. Wide.
Ben Stokes is off and Mark Wood is on.

Marnus Labuschagne has an excellent Test record on this ground - he averages in the nineties - but under grey skies, and with a green tinge to the pitch, these are challenging batting conditions.
Labuschagne does that weird Labuschagne leave as he safely negotiates the rest of Broad's over.

Marnus Labuschagne made that look as easy you as like. He just leaned into it.
Stuart Broad will get things going to Marnus Labuschagne, who gets off the mark with a sumptuous drive for four. He's pleased with that one.

There's still some clouds around but hopefully we'll get a concerted period of play. It's not easy for the players being on and off.
If it rains again I may scream.
A gentle loosener from Ben Stokes, who has two deliveries left to complete his over, and we're back.
Actual cricket is about to take place!
I see players on the actual outfield!
Weather permitting, that is...
Tonight's BBL match between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers has been postpone after 12 Heat players tested positive for Covid.

Play can go on until 08:00 GMT so, theoretically, there's bags of time left.
It is dark already, though. The covers are off for the time being at least.
We've managed to squeeze in 24.1 overs between the various rain showers, with Stuart Broad taking the sole wicket to fall in the form of David Warner.
I mean, I think it might actually have stopped, but I just don't know any more.
Cheers, Tim.
It was raining when I went to sleep, it's raining now I've woken up. Plus ca change.
Yes, I've become more pessimistic (or realistic) than ever before during this Ashes. It's an absolute nap that England will collapse again at least once more in what remains of this series.
Someone else fond of a different kind of nap is Amy Lofthouse, but she has risen from her slumbers, wiped away the sleep, and will guide you through this final session.
Weather permitting.
