There will be a little bit more energy in the England changing room now. There will be a little bit of confidence now.

Stuart Broad has bowled absolutely fantastically today - he has been the pick of the England bowlers. I'm glad he got that second spell.

    More frustration...

The SCG groundstaff, sporting the kind of cotton rugby shirts before they became fashionable acrylics numbers, race on the outfield clutching all manner of covers and bits of rain protecting equipment.

Grey skies and rain falling at the SCG.

That is the first time that Stuart Broad has got David Warner out in Australia since the final Test of the 2013-14 series.

He has bowled at him in 11 innings since then and bowled 224 balls before that wicket.

  7. Aus 56-1published at 21.1 overs

Zak Crawley gets a pat on the back from Stuart Broad as he skips back to his mark. Broad puts his wrists together - was he joking with Crawley about the catch, or making a gag about David Warner being his bunny?

Ben Stokes bangs one in short. Way too short, in fact, as it flies off the pitch and is away for five wides.

Stuart Broad deserves that wicket for his bowling in his first spell.

That is the moment that England have been patiently waiting for. David Warner looks furious with himself.

It went quickly to Zak Crawley but he showed a safe pair of hands.

    Warner c Crawley b Broad 30 (Aus 51-1)

Stuart Broad, looking like an incorrectly cast extra for the Karate Kid with a tied-up sweat band across his brow, is back into the attack.

The tall seamer bounds in and gets the breakthrough with the final ball of the over! The ball gets big on David Warner, who has to play at one angled in on him, edges, and Zak Crawley takes a sharp slip catch.

Broad extends his arms into a airplane-style celebration, although it's relief for England.

While the ball is hard you'd be remiss to not go back to James Anderson and Stuart Broad before turning to the spin of Jack Leach.

  12. Aus 50-0published at 19.4 overs

Plenty of England's players sporting tour stubble four Tests deep, by the way.

David Warner pulls away just before Ben Stokes was about to deliver distracted by Marcus Harris gesticulating to pavilion at the non-striker's end.

Warner ticks off his team-mate but Stokes shows his unhappiness with a bouncer next ball nevertheless.

It is definitely looking like a good batting wicket now so Pat Cummins' decision at the toss has been vindicated.

England are just going to have to stick in there and chip away.

It is Australia's second 50 opening stand of the series. England have scored 45 in their six opening stands so far.

  16. Aus 50-0published at 19.0 overs

Mark Wood is the embodiment of toil and after four dots, Marcus Harris releases the pressure by poking it into the covers for a single before fellow left-hander David Warner does the same.

A solid start from the two Aussie openers.

David Warner and Marcus Harris are building the sort of opening stand that England dream about.

David Warner punches Ben Stokes through the covers for four. Quite the riposte to that beauty from the England all-rounder.

Warner is 29 not out off 60 balls while Marcus Harris is unbeaten on 12 off 50.

It is a good delivery from Ben Stokes. It is exactly where a third slip would have pouched it at waist height.

Ben Stokes applauded the effort. That is as close as England have come.
