England will feel like they have won the game. To save this sticks the handbrake on the lorry. They might have some momentum to take with them into the last game.

"I'm enjoying the game. I love it. There are ups and downs. I know the next time I play I could get two ducks."

It has just started to rain at the SCG too.

"I said we wanted to put pride back into the badge. The way we went about it in this game, we did that. We know there's a long way to go. Jonny played some of the best cricket I've seen him play. Zak looked fluent. Some of the guys had very difficult injuries to deal with.

"It would be nice to front up again next week and go one better.

"Jos Buttler is going home. It's quite a bad injury."

It really is a massive shame that result doesn't really mean anything.

If that had just happened and we were at 1-1 or England were winning 2-1 and Australia needed to win in Hobart to retain the Ashes that would have been so much more dramatic.

Understandably, and rightly, there were no celebrations from England at the end. There was a wry grin from James Anderson as he shaked hands with the Australian players and Ben Stokes applauded on the touchline.

Anderson played that as the calm 39-year-old he is. The Aussies all line up to say well done. It's only a draw, there was one wicket in it, but for the morale of the players and fans, it means an awful lot.
