  • Defending champions England qualify for semi-finals of World Cup

  • Bangladesh never in contention in run-chase - three wickets apiece for Ecclestone & Dean

  • Dunkley's 67 off 72 lifts England to 234-6

  1. Ban 101-5published at 37 overs

A cheeky reverse sweep from Salma Khatun! More of that please, I think it'd be nice to see Bangladesh go out with a bit of panache.

She brings up the 100 with a cut down to the boundary.

  2. Ban 97-5published at 36 overs

In comes Salma Khatun. She's been destructive with the ball in this tournament, but it might be a bit much to ask her to be destructive with the bat in this scenario.

The wind held the ball up so Freya Davies had to dive just to make sure of the catch.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.5 overs

    Sultana Joty c Davies b Ecclestone 22 (Ban 96-5)

A third wicket for Sophie Ecclestone!

Captain Sultana Joty had been going at nearly a run a ball earlier in the innings, but she'd slowed right down. Perhaps with an air of frustration, she sweeps Ecclestone uppishly and Davies runs forward to take the catch.

Georgie Heath: I think I'm in one of those dreams when you never reach the finish line... is this game ever going to end? But at the same time we've lost an hour too. Help.

For the record, I bought a card from Oxfam but forgot to send it.

But I have sent flowers, and those come with a card, so I think we can all agree I'm covered.

  7. A quick reminderpublished at 04:56 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

As we take drinks, those who've forgotten Mother's Day may wish to take this opportunity to make a quick dash to the nearest 24-hour garage. If you're an international cricketer do you have a reasonable excuse for failing to send a card?

Of course in New Zealand Mother's Day is in May, so the England team could offer an elaborate intercontinental excuse for upsetting their mums.

I would like to see Bangladesh chase this down, to go out with a bang, put the bang in Bangladesh.

  9. Ban 95-4published at 35 overs

Just the single off Knight's over - I think we can safely say any suggestion of a Bangladesh attack can be forgotten.

  10. Ban 94-4published at 34 overs

Sophie Ecclestone continues. Sultana Joty offers her the faintest hint of a chance, pushing one back in the rough direction of the England player with a bit of lift, but Ecclestone's limbs would have to be a foot longer for her to reach that.

I would like to see Katherine Brunt bowl again, I'm sure she'll come back.

  12. Ban 91-4published at 33 overs

Captain Heather Knight comes into the attack in place of Charlie Dean.

The Bangladeshi batters are happy to turn her gently into the leg side.

  13. Ban 88-4published at 32 overs

If Bangladesh are looking to up their pace, then a lot will depend on captain Sultana Joty. She's going at a reasonable rate, with 21 off 26, but Davies keeps her mostly tucked up here. A tentative lbw appeal off the final ball, but Davies' heart isn't in it.

  14. Ban 86-4published at 31 overs

Maybe they're accelerating, just a tad?

Mondal and Sultana Joty rotate the strike off Dean, five from it.

The worm shows Bangladesh Women are 33 runs behind England Women. Bangladesh Women are 86 for 4 after 31 overs. At the same stage England Women were 119 for 4.
  15. Ban 81-4published at 30 overs

Dot ball to close off the over. If you're Bangladesh now do you look to accelerate and shock England, or do you just bat your overs?

It's well played Freya Davies, she's done the simple things well and grabbed a wicket. It's never easy when you've been on the bench for a whole tour.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 29.5 overs

    Rumana b Davies 6 (Ban 81-4)

And that's a first World Cup wicket for Freya Davies!

Rumana's too slow onto a straight one from Davies. It shanks off her pads and clatters the stumps.

Lata Mondol is the next batter in.

  18. Ban 80-3published at 29.2 overs

Rumana chips Davies over the infield - it's off the bottom of the bat and plugs when it hits the pitch. Two there.

  19. Ban 78-3published at 29 overs

Bangladesh poke and prod at Dean as she continues. They can take a lesson from Dunkley and Jones rebuilding from a faintly similar position in the England innings, but victory remains a tall order.

It's pretty slow going, but we're enjoying it. I've been impressed with Freya Davies today.
