    The word is that the outfield is still very wet at the Hampshire Bowl. The puddles of earlier have gone but the super-sopper is still bringing up a lot of water as it trundles around.

    Although it's dry now, a glance at the forecast suggests more rain may not be far away.

    Wasn't it generous of Heather Knight to enforce the follow-on so that we could have another chance to watch Shafali Verma bat? She's only made 20 so far but it's come off 14 balls and she's already given us plenty of reasons to keep talking about her - which is absolutely fine by me.

  11. In the final over before lunch, Katherine Brunt struck as Mandhana played at a wide delivery and edged it straight to Nat Sciver at second slip.

    So India are 29-1 in their second innings, still trailing England by 136 runs.

    Will we see more Verma fireworks? Some Brunt beauties? Or will rain dampen our mood?

    For Shafali Verma to play like this knowing there's not been much batting around her, in contrast to someone like Meg Lanning for instance, is just amazing. And how she manages to compartmentalise is what fascinates me, to play with no fear and play so naturally.
