    Devon Conway b Ball 23 (Brave 79-2)

Devon Conway's night has come to an end. It's a fuller delivery from Jake Ball, the batter takes a swing and an inside edge directs the ball into the stumps.

There's a bit of rain but the umpires seem happy to stay on for the time being. Obviously if it gets dangerous that might change. It's typical of being in the UK during the summer.

  3. Brave 85-1published at 50 balls left

    Need 81 from 50

Another boundary, this time Conway sweeps Ahmad to the boundary.

It's raining out there but, for the time being, there's no sign of the umpires budging.

  4. Brave 77-1published at 54 balls left

    And there's the boundary!

Qais Ahmad, sporting an orange headband which somewhat clashes with the Welsh Fire shirt, bowls too short and is crunched to the boundary by Vince.

With the batters to come I think Southern Brave will look to get themselves in a good position to chase this down. That being said, a few wickets can turn the game on its head as we've seen already in the tournament.

  6. Bave 73-1published at 55 balls left

Tidy over from Matt Critchley, conceding four singles from his set.

It's been 15 balls since Southern Brave's last boundary. In this format, that's a long time.

A chorus of 'Sweet Caroline' is trying to break out in the crowd. Michael Vaughan would be so pleased.

  8. Brave 69-1published at 60 balls left

    Need 97 from 60 balls

A mix-up between the batters nearly costs Southern Brave their second wicket. A better throw in from the deep and they could have been in the trouble.

Meanwhile, Glenn Phillips is getting ribbed by the fans for his earlier misfield. He's a good sport, though, giving them a Royal-like bow.

The win predictor has this game 54% in Brave's favour. They're actually ahead of where Welsh Fire were at this point in the innings.

It's Kiwi to Kiwi as Jimmy Neesham comes into the attack and bowls to international team-mate Devon Conway. A couple of dot balls before he takes a single.

There may not be many of them in tonight but the Cardiff crowd are now in full voice.

The slower bowlers in the Welsh Fire attack will be key for them I think. It will be interesting to see when they are introduced.

  11. Brave 60-1published at 70 balls left

There's an appeal for a stumping but Conway drags his foot back well before Bairstow whips off the bails.

Nutmegged! Terrible piece of fielding from Glenn Phillips in the deep as he allows the ball to go straight though him and trickle over the boundary rope.

Qais Ahmad will take some of the pace off the ball now the powerplay has finished. The fielders will go out on the boundary and he will try to induce a false shot.

  13. Fire 54-1published at 75 balls left

Qais Ahmad has been a bit wayward but he has something magical about him. He'll continue for another five.

  14. Not outpublished at 76 balls left

    Fire 54-1

Conway knew! No spike on UltraEdge, not sure what Ahmad, Bairstow and the umpire heard. Not out.

  15. Fire reviewpublished at 76 balls left

    Fire 54-2

Has Qaid Ahmad found the edge? It's been given out but Devon Conway shakes his head and reviews straight away. Jonny Bairstow behind the stumps went up straight away.

It had been a while since we have seen a boundary. We're now going to see a player in Qais Ahmad who could be the man for Welsh Fire. He has a great wrong un and a fine slider.

  17. Brave 49-1published at 79 balls left

The extremely talented 20-year-old Afghanistan leg-spinner Qais Ahmad comes on.

A loosener down the leg side is helped along the way by Vince for four.

Dan O'Brien: Jonny Bairstow absolutely smashed it tonight. Great warm-up for spending the next two months warming the bench during the India series rather than staying sharp for the T20 World Cup...

  19. Brave 45-1published at 80 balls left

    Need 121 from 80 balls

Jake Ball comes on for Welsh Fire, James Vince looks to go but but just about manages the inner field.

A decent opening set from Ball, four from five balls.
