A huge wicket for Welsh Fire. That's very experienced bowling from David Payne. He's bowled into the wicket and Quinton De Kock has sent it down the throat of Tom Banton.

It's been a great start by the Southern Brave. These are two guys who will look to take it to the opposition whatever the situation. They've both capitalised by playing smart cricket to the left and right handed bowlers. They are looking to take full advantage of the new harder ball.

We really could have a game on here.

And what does the South African do with his second ball in The Hundred? Reverse sweep leg-spinner Matt Critchley for four, that's what.

Glenn Phillips is a wicketkeeper, who doesn't like wicketkeeping! He has kept for New Zealand. But he prefers bowling, has worked hard at it and here he is opening the bowling for Welsh Fire.

Four more to Vince! Clubbed through the leg side before a single ends the first set of five.

  11. Brave 6-0published at 98 balls left

Width offered and Vince carves through point for four. Plenty more of those will be needed but a good start.

Spinner Glenn Phillips opens the bowling for Welsh Fire and Vince easily clips off the pads for two.

This is far from over. With short boundaries and experienced batters, Southern Brave are capable of matching those Welsh Fire fireworks.

Up until those flurry of wickets towards the end of the innings, there was little to cheer about for Southern Brave fans.

    Nice one, Tim.

Bairstow will be such a big miss for Welsh Fire when he departs for international duty.

Phew, that was a breathless innings from the Welsh Fire. Can Southern Brave chase it down. They'll need to be, erm, brave.

Jonny Bairstow, speaking to Sky Sports after top-scoring with 72 in the Welsh Fire innings, said: "The pitch does take a bit of getting used to. I think batters can sometimes go hard too early in this competition, so understanding that it is only 20 balls short of a T20 helps.

"We've got a different attack to Southern Brave, but have got to execute our skills in the right way. It was tough when pace was off the ball, so the bowlers have got to mix it up and not be predictable."

  19. Can the Brave double up?published at 19:49 British Summer Time 27 July 2021

In case you missed it, Smriti Mandhana's superb 61 helped Southern Brave to an emphatic eight-wicket win over Welsh Fire in the women's match little earlier.

Can the Brave do the double?

Southern Brave have a job to do but the wicket is good so there's no reason why they wouldn't think the can do it.
