  1. 'Benjamin is a top player'published at 21:52 British Summer Time 4 August 2021

Birmingham Phoenix captain Moeen Ali talking about Chris Benjamin on Sky Sports: "He is a fantastic player. He looks like he has an all-round game. He was a passion for the game and wants to do well. He seems to love those situations that are tight tough and not many people enjoy.

"I played against him in a second XI game earlier in the season and he just came in and hit the ball cleanly. When Adam Hose went down I saw he'd scored runs for Warwickshire and we decided to go for him because he'd won a game for them. I think he's a top player."

  3. 'We've unearthed a couple of diamonds'published at 21:50 British Summer Time 4 August 2021

Birmingham Phoenix captain Moeen Ali on Sky Sports: "We've been doing alright at chasing. It was a great wicket to bat on tonight, and it was quite small, and I just want the guys to build some confidence from the last game.

"We've got some very good players, and we've unearthed a couple of diamonds. Chris Benjamin looks a really good finisher and Will Smeed was fantastic at the top again today.

"I'm playing alright. I had a bit go my way with a couple of drops. When Tom Curran came on I just wanted to get some momentum going with the short boundary.

"It was difficult because of the rain, so after the time out I just committed to playing my way. I knew one or two big overs would and we'd be in."

Match Hero Chris Benjamin on Sky Sports: "It was fantastic to be out there. It's always special in front of this crowd.

"It has been very exciting. Today it was helped by Will Smeed and Finn Allen starting us off really well and they set it up for me at the end really.

"We don't really look at the table, but we know we need a few back-to-back wins and just focus on game by game and the result and the rest will look after itself."

If Chris Benjamin had played this knocks in the T20 Blast they may have gone unnoticed in front of 5,000 people and potentially untelevised.

I am envious that I am not 21 again.

I fancied Birmingham Phoenix at the halfway stage. We thought they'd have a certain confidence and they've won it fairly comfortably in the end.
