That's more like it from Smeed. He uppercuts over the keeper and slip for four.
And again! Smeed chasing it, Cook on top.
Movement. Smeed hangs his bat out but it is beaten by a good nut from Cook.
Finn Allen hammers the ball back to where it came from and a single is taken. We're away.
Sam Cook is going to take the new ball...
We have a healthy crowd at Trent Bridge, a home side out in the field raring to go and some visiting opening batsmen ready to emerge from the tunnel. Let's do this.
The Rockets welcome back Marchant de Lange in place of Wahab Riaz, who really hasn't has much chance to shine at all.
Not big Marchant, though. He is some bowler and lit up the early games of the tournament. A man to watch.
Phoenix also have a certain Imran Tahir in their side. You remember that he recently did this...
The big shoes the Phoenix have to fill are those of Moeen Ali, who has been whisked away to play for England in the current Test match against India. Moeen was in fine form in the last game, smashing 59 to help his side beat Welsh Fire.
He was also Phoenix skipper, meaning Liam Livingstone is stepping into the role this evening. Chris Cooke is into the team, as is Dillon Pennington, with another big player, Adam Milne, also missing.
The home side have won the toss and decided to hand the honour of setting a score to the Phoenix.
You set it, we'll knock it off is Lewis Gregory's theory/hope.
The winner tonight will go top of the table, ahead of Southern Brave.
It really is getting tight at the top with just a few games remaining.
All to play for.
Last night, we had our first total of 200 scored by a side in The Hundred as Northern Superchargers absolutely teed off in front of an electric home crowd at Headingley against rivals the Manchester Originals.
Tonight, we have the Trent Rockets hosting Birmingham Phoenix on a ground with a penchant for yielding decent scores.
Not sure my heart could take another smash-fest like the one in Leeds, but I'm willing to test it out!
CRASH!
BANG!
WALLOP!
What a game of cricket!
