Scotland were looking for a big over, but Boult has firmly shut the door there.
MacLeod b Boult 12 (Sco 102-4)
And that is pretty much that.
Calum MacLeod shuffles too early and too far across his stumps, trying to access behind square.
But Trent Boult is far too good to do that to, as the Kiwi quick zeroes in on the stumps and rearranges the timbers.
Calum MacLeod steals a sharp single as Mitchell Santner's throw at the stumps misses.
Richie Berrington lofts one down the ground for one more.
Trent Boult is putting Scotland out of it here.
Calum MacLeod miscues a pull shot that just about evades Trent Boult's out-stretched hand in his follow through.
He then misses with a mighty heave next up. Dot balls are real killers for Scotland now.

I see John Blain's pigeon knowledge is im-PECK-able! Can't see Scots making it from here but they have done themselves proud.

Need 73 from 36 balls
Hello! Mitchell Santner finally concedes a boundary and it's a mighty six by Richie Berrington!
That makes it 13 off the over and the 100 up for Scotland. A smidgen of a chance remains. But much more of that needed.
Mitchell Santner concedes a rare two as a fielder in the deep slips and allows Calum MacLeod to scurry back.

Some pensive faces in the Scotland dugout.
You imagine in the next few overs the batters will really go after the New Zealand bowlers.
Need 86 from 42 balls
Richie Berrington goes for the same pull stroke but doesn't connect as cleanly this time, picking out a fielder for just a single.
Calum MacLeod plays a deft lap shot but it's too close to the fielder at third and that's only a single too.
Richie Berrington slaps Adam Milne through backward square leg for four.

When you let a pigeon go it's almost 'off you go and do your thing' and it's the same with the ball. Go off and express yourself.
Need 93 from 48 balls
Mitchell Santner wheels through another fine over that yields only three singles for Scotland. It's slipping away.

I'm not going to let that go - let that go like like a pigeon? I've never let a pigeon go.

Southee has hit that hard length. What you do there as a bowler is you sit the ball up a bit like a pigeon and when it hits the pitch it might sit up or it might seam.
A real fine piece of bowling. He has really shown his skill and craft there.
Target 173
Calum MacLeod denies Tim Southee a wicket maiden by pushing his first ball out to point for a single.
But that's a stunning, potentially match-winning over.
Scotland need MacLeod to do something similar to what he did to England on a certain day in Edinburgh in 2018.

That has jagged back significantly.
Cross b Southee 27 (Sco 76-3)
There's a reason Tim Southee is one of only four men to have taken 100+ T20 international wickets.
A genius over from Southee, giving nothing away and building the pressure with four dots in a row.
The fifth ball is an absolute beauty, an immaculate inducker that gets through Matthew Cross and clatters into the stumps.
Tim Southee will resume after drinks.
And it's a peach of a delivery - scrambled seam, holding it's line and beating Matthew Cross' outside edge.
A yelp of an appeal from Southee but no bat on that.

The chances are even and, let's be honest, Scotland have done really well to get into this situation.
This partnership is key - just manage the next five overs. They also have some batting and explosive power to come, so if they can get in sight they will not die wondering.
Need 97 from 60 balls
Ish Sodhi responds well to the pummeling he took from George Munsey last up.
Just five from the over.
Scotland are ahead of where New Zealand were at the same point - 76-2 plays 70-3.
But Martin Guptill was set and then went postal. And New Zealand still have four overs of spin to bowl.
An intriguing second half of this chase to come...
