The pitch is looking a little bit tired, the odd ball is keeping a bit low.

Mohammad Nabi is in with Adam Milne back for Jimmy Neesham, who got a bit of treatment in his last over.

That is not what Afghanistan needed. They were just starting to get themselves into a bit of position.
It was the long hop from the spinner, let's be fair. It is unfortunate for the batter.

The ball kept a little bit low there and it stops the rebuild.
Gulbadin Naib b Sodhi 15 (Afg 56-4)
Bottom edge onto the stumps!
Sodhi dropped short wide outside off, but Gulbadin's slash at it only resulted in one of the worst ways to get out.

There is just a little bit more attacking intent now from Najibullah Zadran.
Here's Ish Sodhi with his leggies but Najib looks to be motoring now as he lofts him high to the square leg boundary.
Afghanistan work Jimmy Neesham around for a few singles, then Najib bashes him with a straight bat back over the umpire for four before following that with a slash outside off that flies away fine for another boundary.
The bowler looks a bit vexed, to say the least.

That is the kind of shot that normally ends up at long-on for a single but he hit it so hard it went to the boundary.
Najib slogs Santner over the bowler's head for the first four in a long while.
Our first sighting of spin as Mitchell Santner comes on, the left-armer being milked for singles off his first three.

Against an opposition of the quality of New Zealand, Afghanistan just need to try and stay in the game a bit longer than they do.
Parsimonious stuff from Neesham - Afghanistan cannot get any Kiwi bowler away at the moment.

If I was New Zealand I wouldn't be putting five fielders out when the powerplay is over. I'd be keeping the squeeze on.
Jimmy Neesham is on now, slogged high into leg by Gulbadin off his first delivery.
Take a look at the first wicket and this superb grab from Devon Conway.
That's a great over from Tim Southee, and the powerplay is done and dusted with New Zealand in full control.

Afghanistan are going nowhere at the moment.

It is really clever bowling from Tim Southee. New Zealand have been bowling length deliveries, that have been going over the stumps, but this was fuller.
I don't know why he even asked his mate about the review.

It is going from bad to worse for Afghanistan.
