    Yorkshire v Lancashire 86-2

Lancashire have scored 33 runs in the eight overs since lunch, albeit with a bit of luck along the way.

But there's nothing fortunate about this as Keaton Jennings punches Steven Patterson through the off-side to the rope and then booms a cover drive to the boundary.

    Jennings has 39.

  4. Postpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Warks v Northants 164-0

Will Young and Ricardo Vasconcelos are rattling along at over four and over.

Swift progress that must be making Warwickshire fans scratch their heads at their side’s decision to bowl first.

Both batters into the 70s now.

Speaking of England, Brendon McCullum has just been announced as the new coach of the men's Test team.

The 40-year-old will be in place for England's first Test against his home nation New Zealand at Lord's on 2 June.

    You can read more here.

Happy with that appointment? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  7. Postpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Kent v Surrey 112-2

Ollie Pope and Hashim Amla are the two new men at the crease for Surrey.

England's Pope is averaging almost 65 this season.

Can he produce that form in an England shirt this summer?

  8. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Yorkshire v Lancashire 69-2

    Streaky!

Keaton Jennings tries that dab behind point again off Jordan Thompson but this is not controlled and flies past gully.

But it's another four to the total. His stand with Steven Croft is now worth 57.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Burns lbw b Gilchrist 30 (Kent v Surrey 106-2)

    And another for Kent!

Rory Burns is hit on the pads by Nathan Gilchrist trying to flick the seamer into the leg-side and up goes the finger.

Both Surrey's openers are out in successive overs.

  10. Postpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Yorkshire v Lancashire 60-2

    A classic Keaton Jennings shot.

The left-hander waits for the ball to come to him from Jordan Thompson and dabs it behind point for four.

He's up to 27 and Lancashire are looking steady.

  11. 50 runs

    Glos v Som 125-0

An eighth four, this from Ryan Higgins, brings Tom Lammonby a half-century in 94 balls at Bristol.

A second of the season for the 21-year-old.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Patel c Crawley b Quinn 76 (Kent v Surrey 106-1)

As we heard in the lunch break wickets have been incredibly hard to come by for Kent this season and they are yet to bowl out a side for less than 500.

    But there's one after lunch.

Ryan Patel edges Matt Quinn to Zak Crawley at slip.

  13. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Yorkshire v Lancashire 53-2

Jordan Thompson, who took the two early wickets to fall in the morning session, comes back into the attack after lunch for Yorkshire.

Steven Croft and Keaton Jennings, both on 21, are the men in the middle for rivals Lancashire. It's a really important spell in this match coming up you feel.

  14. Postpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

Play is starting to get going again after lunch at all eight grounds.

Including at Headingley where Lancashire will want to build on their good work before the interval.

  15. 'Why were Somerset put in?'published at 13:35 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Gloucs v Somerset 114-0

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The question on everyone's lips here at Bristol is - why on earth did Gloucestershire, with a seriously weakened attack, on what looked like a decent pitch, put Somerset in?

As it was, Matt Renshaw and Tom Lammonby proceeded almost serenely to their second successive century opening partnership, against an attack including two of Gloucestershire's hastily acquired short-term stand-ins, Zak Chappell and Brad Wheal, neither of whom made much of an impression.

All very strange, but Somerset aren't complaining.

Richard Batchelor: Kent have not managed to bowl a team out for less than 500 so far this season….. When are the one day games starting again?

    Wowzas.

  17. 'Notts take the spoils'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 12 May 2022

    Middlesex v Notts 104-1

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Nottinghamshire took the morning’s spoils at lunch, despite an early set-back. Put in, the visitors lost Ben Slater in the opening over of the day and Tim Murtagh could have struck for a second time when Ben Duckett was spilled at slip by Peter Handscomb on four.

Duckett made the most of that reprieve with a flurry of boundaries but has been outscored since then by Haseeb Hameed, who reached an 87-ball fifty, only his second of the summer, in the final over of the session.
