Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka: "I'm really happy about the way we played the game. We wanted to play as a team and everyone contributed.
"We knew coming into this game spinners will play a major in this game. We used that tactic in this game and are looking forward to continue using this tactic.
"Mendis has been consistent and plays according to the situation most of the time. That's high class batting and the consistency that Sri Lanka needed we've now got that. It will help us as the tournament progresses
"I think that bowling is a key area and starting is key. I think we started really well."
Ireland's captain Andrew Balbirnie: "We knew this side of the game Sri Lanka will be a threat. There was not a whole lot of spin but they bowled pretty well. We were looking at 160 plus and we were short of that.
"We knew they had a threat of spin and as a batting group we back ourselves to bat well first or second and in the next game we will look to put up a better fight.
"A lot of us haven't played in a stadium like the MCG before, especially against England we haven't played them in 10 years. We love the city and we have loved Hobart. We've had great fans and hope they come to Melbourne with us."
There has been a sizeable contingent of Sri Lanka fans in Hobart today, and their heroes are now posing for selfies galore on the boundary edge.
Sri Lanka's win was sealed in emphatic style.
TMS have also mentioned that today will give Sri Lanka coach Chris Silverwood some better memories of Hobart - his reign as England coach ended there in ignominious fashion after the end of the Ashes series earlier this year.

Ireland just couldn't manage to get things going. Not enough runs on the board but a good win for Sri Lanka.
A bad day at the office for Ireland, and they face England next up on Wednesday in Melbourne.
One thing that result also does is put Australia to the foot of the group with a net run rate of -4.45. Oh dear.

It's a massive six to finish things off and the ball almost lands on a Sri Lanka flag, a fitting way to end the game.
Boof! Mendis lifts Singh high into the stands behind mid-wicket to seal a victory you can put into the file marked 'comprehensive'.
Target 129
Mendis guides Singh to third for two, leaving two to win.

Sri Lanka have dominated this game from the start. Ireland have tried to keep themselves in it but with a modest total, missed run-out, dropped catch and missed review, it's been difficult.
A dreadful long hop from Singh is given the treatment it deserved by Mendis, high over mid-wicket.
Target 129
Not much of a break for Sri Lanka after this - they face Australia in Perth on Tuesday.
A succession of twos is followed by a clubbed four from Asalanka, lifting Little over cover to bring up the 50 partnership.
He follows that with a drive past point for another boundary - nearly done now.
Target 129
Two successive fours from the opener see him go past 50 off 37 deliveries.
It won't be long now, but looking ahead Ireland face England next up. No easy games any more...
Target 129
Just 40 from 48 balls now for Sri Lanka, Mendis and Asalanka are looking so comfortable aside from the odd chancy single.
Here's how that solitary wicket fell earlier.
Poor again from Ireland as Singh hurls the ball at the stumps with Mendis nowhere near making his ground at a quick single - but the throw is wild and the batter is home.
Hands on heads all round again...
Meanwhile, in Melbourne...

Not the best bit of fielding from Dockrell, he completely misses the ball.
