All times stated are UK

  1. NZ 16-0

This has been a rather sedate start by New Zealand.

It doesn't look very easy to score on this pitch at the moment.

Either that or Devon Conway and Finn Allen are both massively out of nick.

  2. NZ 11-0

Mark Adair was expensive the other day so he'll be hoping for a better day out today.

Before that drop, which went for three runs, he started with a leg-side ball, that ran away for four leg byes.

He's experienced so if Ireland are to win today, they'll need him to perform.

    Henry Moeran

    BBC Test Match Special commentator

That should have been taken. It was straight into the hands of Harry Tector.

There is no real excuse when you get both hands to it.

  4. Conway dropped on one

    You've got to catch those!

Devon Conway comes down the track and looks to hit over mid-off, but he doesn't connect well at all.

He shanks it towards Harry Tector, but he misjudges it and it bursts through his hands.

That could prove a costly drop.

    Alex Hartley

Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

Finn Allen hit the covers a few times there. I think the ball is bouncing a bit more than he expected as it seemed to hit the splice. It didn't sound quite right.

  6. NZ 4-0

Tidy start from Josh Little, just going for two singles and a two to end the over.

There were some cracking drives from Finn Allen, but he wasn't able to find the gap in the covers on either occasion.

He's actually called for a change of bat already.

  7. Post update

    Time for cricket.

Josh Little has ball in hand for Ireland.

Finn Allen, who can whack a long ball, will face up.

  8. Post update

Glenn Phillips has been absolutely brilliant with the bat and in the field for New Zealand so far in this World Cup.

    Will he star again today?

  9. Post update

Lorcan Tucker was superb against Australia on Monday.

His 71 not out was a highlight for Ireland on a difficult night.

He's likely to be key again today.

  10. Post update

This is how Group 1 is shaping up going into the final round of fixtures.

The situation in this game is relatively simple:

    • A New Zealand win is likely to be enough to see them through because of their superior run-rate on England and Australia. We won't be able to say with absolute certainty though, but it will need massive wins for both to knock the Kiwis out if they win
    • A defeat for New Zealand means they would be relying on one of Australia and England losing and their net run-rate remaining better to progress
    • Ireland's hopes of reaching the last four are all but over now. They need to beat New Zealand while massively improving their net-run rate and hope that Afghanistan beat Australia
    Super 12s Group 1 table: New Zealand 5, England 5, Australia 5, Sri Lanka 4, Ireland 3, Afghanistan 2
  11. Teams

New Zealand: Finn Allen, Devon Conway (wk), Kane Williamson (capt), Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult.

Ireland: Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie (capt), Lorcan Tucker (wk), Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Fionn Hand, Joshua Little.

  12. Post update

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson: "It looks a good surface so batting first we'll try to make the most of it, assess conditions and post a good score.

"There were some good lessons, we didn't quite put a full performance together, but we hope to improve here.

"Ireland have brought quality throughout the tournament. We want to bring our skills and do our best."

  13. Post update

Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie: "It looks a good surface and should stay that way for 40 overs. We have always said it is nice to know what you have to get so one last push today,

"There has been a switch in mindset. We are really proud of those wins. We don't see them as giantkillers any more as we playing these teams more regularly."

  14. Ireland won the toss and bowl

The toss took place just over 15 minutes ago and Kane Williamson called tails, but it came down a head.

Andrew Balbirnie fancied having something to defend later on.

  15. Post update
