  1. Pakistan review

Wasim responds with a slower ball, Williamson is way too early on the shot and pinned on the pad.

It's given not out but Babar Azam reluctantly goes for the review with a couple of seconds to spare.

Looks a bit high to me.

  2. NZ 87-3

Oh. The sound off the bat.

Bit short from Mohammad Wasim and Kane Williamson smashes it over square leg for six.

    Where did that come from?!

  3. NZ 81-3

Kane Williamson is just dealing in ones and twos at the moment. Must've easily reached his 10,000 steps for the day already.

    Mitchell

Something is now happening in this game. It was going at a slow crawl but New Zealand are getting a wriggle on.

The pitch looks really old and slow. You only need to look at the first six overs to see how difficult it is to score. It is holding up in the pitch a little.

So I reckon if you get 150 you are in the game. 160 and you are in a pretty good position.

  5. Post update

I think Glenn Phillips' stance in the opening frame here shows just how frustrated he was to get out.

  6. NZ 72-3

Pumped over long-on for four more! Daryl Mitchell is just getting going and that's a good over for the Black Caps - 14 from it.

  7. NZ 66-3

    Fans

Haris Rauf, with all the fearlessness of a kid at a soft play centre, hurls himself at the ball out on the boundary to save two runs.

    Commitment.

  8. NZ 64-3

Flashed, in the air... and safe!

Daryl Mitchell gets lucky, slashing one just past point for four very welcome runs.

  9. Post update

    Alex Hartley

Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

It has been all Pakistan so far.

59-3 after 10 is not where New Zealand will have wanted to be. They need to have a chat about how they go about setting a decent total here. They need to kick on.

  10. Post update

Fair play, Pakistan. Fielding's been class.

  11. NZ 59-3

Kane Williamson nudges and nurdles his way through another over, seven runs taken from it.

Halfway through the innings and Pakistan are all over this. But of all the batters in the world you'd want at the crease when you're in a bit of a pickle like this, it's probably Williamson.

    It's set up nicely.

  12. NZ 52-3

Shadab Khan twirls through another rapid over, just three runs from it. He's gone for just nine from his two overs so far.

Pakistan have bowled brilliantly throughout the tournament, despite batting failures, and have kept those standards up today.

  13. Post update

    Mitchell

Daryl Mitchell is the new batter, another calm head to join the calmest of calm heads in Kane Williamson.

What a year he's had for New Zealand, after starring in last year's semi-final against England. You can read Cameron Ponsonby's recent feature on Mitchell here.

    Nawaz

Another simple dismissal for New Zealand. They have given their wickets away here.

  15. WICKET

    Phillips c & b Nawaz 6 (NZ 49-3)

    BIG breakthrough!

Batting is not looking easy out there, the ball just gripping in the pitch off the spinners. Glenn Phillips tries to dab one into the leg side but gets a leading edge straight back to the bowler for the simplest of catches.

New Zealand slip into deeper trouble...

  16. Post update

    Alex Hartley

Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

New Zealand need a big over the get themselves going.

Their current run rate will only get them up to 126. If they go at tens they will get to 174.

If they aim for somewhere in the middle they can get around 150, which would give them something to bowl at.

  17. Post update

    Brett Lee

Former Australia fast bowler on BBC Test Match Special

I've enjoyed the World Cup, though I have been disappointed with Australia. It is always nice to see the host nation advance to the semi-finals but it wasn't to be.

There are a number of reasons why. I think they tinkered too much with their line-ups, guys not doing their normal things, the reason why they were picked.

As a fast bowler I loved to have structure, what over I'd bowl, where I'd start. Though of course you have to adjust on some occasions.

  18. NZ 44-2

Shadab Khan, fresh from his run out heroics, whizzes through his first over that goes for just seven.

  19. NZ 44-2

Glenn Phillips guides one effortlessly past point for four.

He is my favourite player to watch at the moment. The contrast between him and Williamson is amazing, but so effective.
