A bit of a mishmash of a start from Luke Wood.
After that fine start Luke Wood then bowls three successive wides.
The next ball new batter Michael Pepper clubs into the off-side for the first six of the day!
James Anderson
England bowler on BBC Two
What a start. Brilliant from Luke Wood. Straight on the money. Good pace as Adam Lyth tried to work it to the leg side but it was a half-hearted pull.

What a dramatic start to this game. Wow. Unbelievable.
Lyth c Fletcher b Wood 0 (Superchargers 0-1)
And Luke Wood gets a wicket first ball! Would you believe it?!
Adam Lyth gets it all wrongs as he attempts to pull the ball into the leg side but can only top-edge it into the air and Luke Fletcher takes a simple catch.
Luke Wood will open the bowling for the Trent Rockets.
Here we go....

I can't wait. These are two really good teams. I'm hoping they will show us what they're made of. It looks like a good pitch as well.
Mark Wood

Faf has a strange back lift. He chokes it a little bit and likes to hit on the leg side. He can play power shots but is also a smart cricketer. He hits it in strange areas because of his grip.

I'm really excited to see what Faf Du Plessis can do in this tournament. We've seen what he can do in other tournaments around the world.
The flame flowers go off as the Trent Rockets make it onto the field (isn't it hot enough?!) You can't miss the Rockets in their bright yellow and red strip.
They get into a team huddle as the Superchargers batters Adam Lyth and Faf du Plessis, all in purple, join them in the middle.
Northern Superchargers: Adam Lyth, Faf du Plessis, Michael Pepper, Adam Hose, John Simpson, David Wiese, Roelof van der Merwe, Dwayne Bravo, Ben Raine, Matthew Potts, Adil Rashid
Trent Rockets: Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Colin Munro, Tom Kholer-Cadmore, Joe Root, Lewis Gregory, Samit Patel, Daniel Sams, Luke Wood, Luke Fletcher, Tabraiz Shamsi

Joe Root to turn up, not be wearing the white rose and being in the away dressing room will be very strange for him. I'm sure he will be the ultimate professional and try his best.
Tonight's game sees one of England's greatest spin bowlers against one of their greatest batters - and they are both from Yorkshire.
Adil Rashid was joint-highest wicket-taker in the men's competition last season with 12 and the vastly experienced bowler will relish being back on his home ground of Headingley.
The 34-year-old has taken more wickets in T20 and one-day internationals than any other England spinner, plus he has experience of playing franchise cricket around the world.
You could forgive Joe Root for walking into the wrong dressing room this evening as he returns to his beloved Headingley as an opposition player.
The 31-year-old is the number one Test batter in the world and became just the second England batter to score 10,000 Test runs earlier this year.
He helped the Rockets over the line in their opening match against Birmingham Phoenix with an unbeaten 34 from 26 balls.
However, Root has bad memories of playing against the Superchargers.
In 2021 he was out first ball. The bowler who got him out? Adil Rashid.
Trent Rockets captain Lewis Gregory: "It looks a pretty good wicket. We will look to contain them first half. It looks pretty difficult to defend so hopefully we can replicate what we did in the middle of the week.
"It's a short competition. They come thick and fast. You have to keep that momentum and keep winning games."

I'm sticking with Superchargers. With David Willey they have experience and then there's the magic and mystery of Adil Rashid. I feel like they're the team to go with.
James Anderson
England bowler on BBC Two
Trent Rockets stand out for me. They've got balance with the bat. At the top of the order with Alex Hales and Chris Munro and then Joe Root coming in at the middle of the order. He can knock it about then accelerate later in the innings.
Rockets captain Lewis Gregory has won the toss and has chosen to bowl first.
It is an absolutely fabulous evening at Headingley. The crowd is filling up nicely too.
All set for a cracker.
Northern Superchargers were also victorious in their first match.
Opening batter Adam Lyth hit 51 off 30 balls to set the platform for victory against northern rivals Manchester Originals on Friday, with Harry Brook's 33 off 19 balls steering them home.
Alex Hales and Joe Root combined to help blast the Rockets to victory over Birmingham Phoenix in their opening game.
Hales hit 58 from 41 balls in a 79-run partnership with Root, who ended the game 34 not out from 26 balls.
It's day seven of the Hundred (already?! how time flies...)
The competition is really starting to click into gear now as we head to a gloriously sunny Headingley for Northern Superchargers v Trent Rockets.
Be it TV and radio coverage, live text commentary, expert analysis or in-play clips, we have got you covered for the next few hours.
Let's go!
