Livingstone bowls...or does he. He goes through the action and doesn't let go of the ball.

    Fooled ya!

Du Plessis went for the ramp and just didn't get himself into the right position and he's castled by Helm.

Oh, that's a great shot! That's the one he tried to play from the previous ball that he missed.

    That's on the roof!

  5. 6 runs

    Superchargers 34-0published at 18 balls

    Du Plessis 9, Lyth 25

Lyth was swinging like a rusty gate but he has got more than a bit of that. The ball is absolutely dispatched and gone over the Hollies.

How many balls have we lost this Hundred already?!

  6. Superchargers 28-0published at 15 balls

    Du Plessis 9, Lyth 19

Du Plessis joins the boundary party. How does he make it look so effortless?

The last four balls have completely changed the momentum. Adam Lyth is flying.

If you're gonna flash...flash hard. Lyth with the slice six. It's a thick outside edge but it still only says six in the book rather than "ugly slice six."

Back-to-back and he gets a hold of the next one. Straight out of the meat of the bat and launched for six into the off-side.

Finishes the flurry with a four.

Not a shabby five for the superchargers. Richardson, however...

  9. Superchargers 3-0published at 5 balls

    Du Plessis 2, Lythe 1

Phoenix are happy to open with spin. Moeen making things happen. Lyth goes down on one knee and there's a muted appeal. A good start for the Phoenix.

That boundary really is very short and there are some players who can hit the ball VERY far. There's one of them heading out in purple now...Faf du Plessis. The South Africa kicks his bum as he runs out to the middle alongside Whitby-born Adam Lythe.

  15. Can Phoenix do the doublepublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 19 August 2022

Thumbs up if the Phoenix men can emulate the women with a win.

Thumbs down if Superchargers are doing to dampen the orange party.

Birmingham Phoenix: Miles Hammond, Will Smeed, Moeen Ali (c), Liam Livingston, Matthew Wade (wk), Chris Benjamin, Benny Howell, Tom Helm, Henry Brookes, Kane Richardson, Imran Tahir.

Northern Superchargers: Faf du Plessis (c), Adam Lyth, David Willey, Harry Brook, Adam Hose, John Simpson (wk), David Wiese, Dwayne Bravo, Ben Raine, Adil Rashid, Craig Miles.

  17. Birmingham Phoenix win the toss and bowl firstpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 19 August 2022

Faf du Plessis calls wrong and Moeen Ali elects to bowl first. He knows the firepower in his side and how unflappable they are under the pressure of a chase.

He's also wary of the size of the boundary. Hint - they are small.

Superchargers need to win this to keep chances of a top three place alive.

The Hundred: Ali vs Rashid in penalty bowl off

The spin twins are so often seen working in tandem and tearing it up for England but today they do battle.

Phoenix captain Moeern Ali is coming off the back of a scintillating 52 off 28 against Trent Rocks that saw his team to their third victory on the trot. He claims it was "scratchy and ugly" but a big knock is a big knock either way!

His counterpart when it comes to spin came out on top in their penalty bowl-off last week and will be keen to get another one up on his mate. While he has only taken one wicket in each of his four Hundred games so far this year, he has the ability to change a game and it will be desperately needed to try and put dampeners on this blistering Phoenix batting line-up.

Will it be 2-0 Adil or can Moeen level the score?

  19. Run fest anyone?published at 18:48 British Summer Time 19 August 2022

Good evening all. Put your feet up, grab a cold beverage of choice, and settle in for another night of sensational Hundred action. I managed to avoid an event I'd been trying not to go to in order to be here with you tonight so here we go for a FAR more exciting evening.

A resplendent Edgbaston has already seen their home side with a win in the women's Hundred and now it's time for Moeen Ali's Birmingham Phoenix to take on the Northern Superchargers in the men's Hundred.

Birmingham Phoenix. Where do we start? You can't think of their batting without THOSE hits from Liam Livingstone (sometimes one-handed) and THOSE Imran Tahir celebrations. You have to admit, even if it's your team he's getting out, you can't help but love it just a little bit! SIIIUUUUUU anyone?

The Superchargers are on a losing streak and they need to end it. Tonight. Or else. Basically this is a must win for the boys in purple. They've only managed one win so far this season when they won their first game against Manchester Originals so are coming off the back of a three-game losing streak.

But anything can happen here. Both teams have firepower with both bat and ball and I don't know about you, but I'm not gong anywhere. If the women's game earlier is anything to go by, this is a mighty fine batting wicket. It's also a Friday night in Birmingham. What more could you need?!

It's definitely a night to keep an eye out if you don't want your drink knocked out of your hand in the Hollies tonight.

    Run-fest anyone?
