Shot! Matt Critchley with a huge strike down the ground for six!

    Finishing with a flourish!

  2. Fire 120-6published at 8 balls left

There are some very glum faces in the Welsh Fire dugout.

  4. Fire 116-6published at 10 balls left

    Target 157

Ben Duckett, Dwaine Pretorius and Leus du Plooy have batted really admirably for Welsh Fire tonight. The top order just looked completely out of the game.

London Spirit's bowling has been superb all the way through, though. They've chipped away at the wickets column with regularity.

  5. Not outpublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 24 August 2022

Tuffers predicted it! Pitching outside leg stump and Du Plooy survives.

Unless it's pitched outside leg, that is dead.

  7. Fire reviewpublished at 11 balls left

Leus du Plooy moves across his stumps and tries to paddle Nathan Ellis around the corner. He misses and is struck on the leg.

The umpire raises the finger straight away after an enigmatic appeal from Ellis, but Du Plooy reviews with more hope than expectation, I suspect.

After 44 balls Welsh Fire were 37-4 so they have fought their way back admirably here.

It didn't look like Pretorius was hitting the ball really well. That was taken a long way inside the boundary.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15 balls left

    Pretorius c Ellis b Wood 23 (Fire 113-6)

Ah. Dwaine Pretorius' fun comes to an end and London Spirit can smell the top of the table now.

The batter attempts another big swat into the leg side but is unable to clear the boundary as Nathan Ellis takes a simple catch. He celebrates with a fist bump to the Lord's crowd.

People thought this match was a foregone conclusion but nobody told Leus du Plooy.

  12. 6 runs

Fire 112-5published at 18 balls left

    Target 157

Consecutive sixes from Leus du Plooy who is absolutely smashing it out there!

Could he have come in earlier?! He's on to 27 from 12 balls.

  13. Fire 99-5published at 20 balls left

    Target 157

Check this out from Ben Duckett.

May turn out to be in a losing cause but it's certainly a contender for shot of the day.

He's so underrated for me, Leus du Plooy.

  15. Fire 97-5published at 22 balls left

The Fire batters are just going to have a go, and why not? Leus du Plooy helps himself to four more down the ground off Nathan Ellis.

    Great shot.

  17. Fire 91-5published at 25 balls left

    Target 157

Just a matter of time now for London Spirit.

66 runs needed from 25 balls is always a tough ask, let alone when you're five wickets down.

This time Ellis misses his length and is punished for it.

  19. Fire 88-5published at 30 balls left

    Target 157

Leus du Plooy replaces Duckett but picks up where he left off, thrashing Nathan Ellis for four.

The Fire batters might as well have a swing here. Boundaries are the only way they're going to pull off a miraculous win, rather than just batting out the 100 balls for the sake of it.

What a spell of bowling from Dan Lawrence. What a night's work, 4-20. He's going to be chuffed.
