Deandra Dottin struck a superb half-century and took 2-21 as Manchester Originals edged Welsh Fire in a thriller at Old Trafford.

West Indies international Dottin hit a fantastic 67 off 37 balls as the Originals posted 156-2.

The Fire's chase was led by Hayley Matthews' 69 from 41 with the visitors eventually finishing 11 runs short on 145-3.

The win saw the Originals move up to sixth in the table with one victory and one defeat; the Fire remain bottom, yet to record a win.

    Here's what also happened:

    • Emma Lamb hit a measured 35 off 41 for the Originals before Sophie Ecclestone scored 36 runs in a late 18-ball cameo.
    • The Fire raced to 110-0 off 71 balls in reply and looked set for the win before three wickets in 11 deliveries pegged them back.
    • Skipper Tammy Beaumont (45 off 42) and Fran Wilson (12 from 10) were unable to see the visitors over the line.

Welsh Fire were above the Originals' run-rate for a large part of that innings.

But Deandra Dottin's interventions proved crucial - first with a late flurry of runs with the bat that propelled the Originals to 156 and then by taking two wickets in two balls to help stunt the Fire's chase.

Match Hero Deandra Dottin on Sky Sports: "The main thing today was getting myself in and I know that once I can do that I can put a good total on the board for the team.

"I thought we had enough and once we bowled to our targets and the basics we definitely had enough.

"It was very important to win this and the winning feeling again will take us forward to more wins."

Just another sign of the dominance that the Manchester Originals have performed. They recorded a win by 11 runs in the end. There is a group hug and big cheers in the ground.

Tammy Beaumont would be very frustrated, particularly with the way she was batting with Matthews.
