Superchargers need a quick start otherwise the run rate could spiral out of control very quickly.

    Here we go.

The players are coming back out.

    What we thinking then guys?

154 looks a very trick chase. The Phoenix's to lose?

    Hey keep believing Georgie!

It's the BBC cricket annual staff charity game in a couple of weeks. I'm already picturing my unlikely half-century...

The sea of orange around Edgbaston enjoyed that batting display in the glorious sunshine. There's a huge task ahead of the Superchargers but, as we know, every ball counts and they've got 100 of them to make it count.

To see you through those 100 balls, it's Joe Rindl while I rewatch some of those textbook shots from Amy Jones and pretend there is a chance I might ever be able to emulate them!

Phoenix have got plenty of runs under the board. That will put the Superchargers under pressure, but they did pull it back nicely because it looked like they'd be chasing 170 at one stage.

Alyssa Healy hasn't got the runs she'd have liked, so she is due a score and they will need it from her.

  7. Superchargers set 154 to winpublished at 100 balls

Birmingham Phoenix batted beautifully for the majority of their innings but they definitely had a bit of a wobble. They were looking on form for a mammoth total but were pegged back slightly by the Superchargers. But only slightly.

That partnership between the Joneses (is there a collective noun) was key and then the firepower of the in-form Perry and her Aussie pal Molineux was explosive through the middle.

Superchargers will need to come out charging (sorry not sorry) if they hope to chase this down. Alyssa Healy has been out of form but where better to find form than on a great Edgbaston pitch in the sunshine?

I love the facials from Alice Davidson-Richards there. The slower ball has come out slightly wrong but she's got away with it!

    Molineux b Davidson-Richards 24 (Phoenix 150-4)

Molineux drags the ball on to her own stumps with just three balls to go. What a great change of pace from ADR and it brings Davies to the crease.

Surely Issy Wong or Emily Arlott? But I am ready to be proved wrong.

Appeal for Molineux lbw. The ball has flicked her back pad.

    Not out.

Northern Superchargers have pulled this back really nicely. It's a big 10 balls here for the Phoenix. Can they get up to 150-160?

    Perry 16, Molineux 15

Is there anyone else out there who can rock yellow hair like Issy Wong. I wonder if she's been on the shoe-phone to Tabraiz Shamsi again?

Superchargers are just clawing this back somewhat.

    Perry 14, Molineux 13

Jenny Gunn putting the squeeze on but I can't imagine these two will be held down for long.

Issy Wong looks on from the side with her newly-dyed yellow hair. We know she can come in and give it a whack when needed.

Jenny Gunn's bowling: 13% full, 87% good length and 0% short. 15 balls, 6 dots, went for 20 runs, took 0 wickets with an economy of 1.33 runs per ball.

Oh Ellyse Perry that is so good. Levick watches it soar back over her head and almost over the advertising hoardings.

Can we just remember that Ellyse Perry hasn't been getting into the Australian team recently?!

  17. Phoenix 112-3published at 75 balls

    Perry 6, Molineux 1

Birmingham are currently being represented by two Australians out in the middle. If I were them, I wouldn't be complaining. These two have the ability to really do some damage but the Superchargers are just finding their spirit in this game. Those wickets have got the voices going and they are looking sharper in the field.

Amy Jones was just looking to hit that into the leg side but it came off the edge.

She deserved 50, she was striking the ball nicely but this is a good little opening for the Superchargers to take advantage of.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 19 August 2022

    A Jones c Lewis b Davidson-Richards 48 (Phoenix 110-3)

Jones gets a thick outside edge, spoons it up and misses out on her fifty. Lewis in the action in her first game and she wasn't dropping that. The luck of the Irish strikes again.
