    Molineux b Capsey 6 (Invincibles 67-5)

    Alice Capsey is on fire.

Sophie Molineux had got the sweep away off the first ball of the set, and she looks to repeat the shot, but misses.

Capsey, again, doesn't. The ball crashes into leg stump for her third wicket.

  2. Phoenix 67-4published at 70 balls

Regular BBC commentator Georgia Elwiss is the new batter for Birmingham Phoenix.

She's up and running with a single but Phoenix just aren't able to get Invincibles away.

She's going to bowl another five, and bowl out.

Eve Jones, looking to cut the ball into the off side, it was too straight for that. Poor shot from Jones. On the replay, I'm not quite sure where she was trying to put that ball.

    Birmingham Phoenix are in trouble.

Eve Jones looks to cut away but the ball is far too straight to ball the shot. She misses, but Alice Capsey doesn't.

It cannons into leg stump and Capsey has her second wicket.

She's only conceded four runs from 12 balls so far too.

Bowling from around the wicket, she just pushed the ball through. That was a beautiful set of five balls from the bowler and captain. With everything from planning to execution.

She knew as soon as she missed that ball, her head bowed, that she had to go.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 65 balls

    Perry st Winfield-Hill b Villiers 10 (Phoenix 64-3)

    Big wicket.

After that wicket Mady Villiers went round the wicket looking to cramp Ellyse Perry and there were some subtle field changes from Dane van Niekerk.

Perry dances past the arm ball, that goes on straight, from Villiers and Lauren Winfield-Hill whips off the bails.

    Invincibles are in complete control.

  8. Phoenix 62-2published at 62 balls

    Yes, Ellyse Perry. Lovely shot.

She gives herself some room and it allows her to loft the ball over the covers and it runs away off the practice pitches and away to the boundary.

I wonder if this lack of momentum is because of the surface or just because of good bowling.

  10. Phoenix 57-2published at 60 balls

    Henry isn't wrong.

Ellyse Perry has five runs from her first 10 balls. We saw similar in Phoenix's game against Trent Rockets last week but Perry timed that innings beautifully and was able to accelerate. She'll need to do the same today.

Sophia Smale is done with the ball. The left-arm spinner finishes with 1-18 from her 20 balls. Another excellent day for the 18-year-old.

Sophia Smale's bowling: 20% full, 55% good length and 25% short. 20 balls, 8 dots, went for 18 runs, took 1 wickets with an economy of 0.90 runs per ball.

You can't find many criticisms of Ellyse Perry but one is that she does tend to take a bit of time to get going in an innings.

Based on Melissa's theory Birmingham Phoenix are going to make 104 from their 100 balls because they are 52-2 after 54 balls.

I'm going to say that 104 won't be anywhere near enough so Phoenix might want to get a move on.

Seven runs come from Ryana MacDonald-Gay's first set of five balls.

Dane van Niekerk is looking through a notepad with a coach during the timeout.

I'm sure they are working out bowling and fielding plans, but it is much more fun to think she is planning tonight's takeaway.

    Bit of Chinese maybe? Pizza?

Does Alice Capsey ever not deliver?

She's bowled 10 balls so far and has only conceded three runs, to go with the wicket of Amy Jones.

Oval Invincibles have called for the strategic timeout. Interesting timing considering they are well on top.

It may have been a slow-ish start to this game but the arrival of Ellyse Perry brings immediate star quality.

I understand the Australian great’s relentless work ethic has already been impressing her Phoenix team-mates.

    Ah the final-ball boundary again!

Eva Gray strays onto the pads of Eve Jones and the left-hander just tickles it fine and away to the fence.

    Phoenix need more of those.
