London Spirit won their first match of the women's Hundred as Welsh Fire's woes continued at Lord's.

In a match between the tournament's two winless sides, Fire struggled to 119-9 batting first.

They were 38-0 after 25 balls - their best powerplay score in The Hundred - but afterwards lost regular wickets, opener Sarah Bryce the top scorer with 33.

England bowler Freya Davies dismissed Tammy Beaumont and Annabel Sutherland with consecutive deliveries and finished with figures of 3-25.

Australia international Beth Mooney scored 61 not out in the Spirit's chase as the hosts completed an eight-wicket victory with 14 balls to spare.

The Spirit climb a place in the table to sixth while the Fire are bottom with four defeats from four.

    What else happened?

    • The run-out of Claire Nicholas was one of a number of disappointing Fire dismissals, the 35-year-old involved in a mix-up with her partner Lauren Filer, who was unmoved when Nicholas set off for a run.
    • In the chase, the Fire thought they had dismissed opener Danielle Gibson early but their celebrations were cut short when the third umpire deemed Sutherland had bowled a no-ball on height.
    • Gibson and Mooney went on to share an opening partnership of 66, which broke the back of the Spirit's chase.
    • Mooney overtook Northern Superchargers' Laura Wolvaardt as the women's tournament's leading run-scorer during her innings. She now has 201 runs from four matches.

    What's next?

The Spirit's next match is on Saturday against London rivals Oval Invincibles. The Fire play again on Friday, at home against Northern Superchargers.

London Spirit all-rounder Dani Gibson on BBC Two: "I was a bit nervous! I've never opened before but I was so excited to get going.

"Once they asked me to open I just wanted to take that opportunity as best I could and take it. I'm pretty pleased with how it went.

"Sharing a pitch with Beth Mooney is so cool and being able to learn off her is great, I couldn't be happier.

"I didn't even know the over head height no-ball was a rule to be honest, but I'm not complaining!

"We struggled first half of the comp but it's been great to finally get a win and get some morale."

Welsh Fire bowler Alex Hartley on BBC Two: "We lost consistent wickets, we spoke about that pre-match because we didn't want to do that again. And then with the ball, I didn't set the tone for us well the ball. Things just didn't go well for us today.

"We started really well, Sarah Bryce coming to the top of the order and she was great. It was just the wickets we kept losing at key points, you can't go on and get a big total when you're always having new batters at the crease.

"It'ts just playing for pride now. Come on, let's get a couple of wins!

"But this competition has revamped my career. I wanted to retire at the start of this year but these few weeks have kept me going. Results aside, it's well good!"

London Spirit captain Charlie Dean, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's good to get the first win. It has been a tough stint on the road so it's good to be back at Lord's. There is such an atmosphere here. It is a really special place to play.

"Being captain my mind is thinking about so many other things than myself, which makes my bowling a bit more simple. I didn't bowl as well as I'd like today but if I can do the simple stuff well that benefits me."

On Beth Mooney's performance: "She is an amazing person to have around the group. She scores runs every game and makes it look so easy. She also has great experience behind the stumps so is really good for me as an inexperienced captain."

London Spirit batter Beth Mooney on BBC Two: "It's amazing when we get to play in front of these crowds and at Lord's is always special. Thankfully we have a win on the board now so hopefully we can get some momentum.

"When you're chasing a low total, you want to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and take it away from the opposition early so that was my mindset.

"It's been really exciting, it's an incredible format and I've really enjoyed the challenge of adapting to it and pushing myself.

"There's always a bit of mental fatigue, that's international cricket, but coming into a new team and playing with a young group has allowed me to get a bit more out of myself, it's made me feel young again!

"I'm feeling really grateful to be part of it."

Match Hero Beth Mooney speaking to Sky Sports: "It was really nice being out here at Lord's. I haven't played here before and it was an outstanding crowd out there. Our bowlers did an outstanding job so thankfully as batters we didn't have too many to chase."

On Danielle Gibson's performance: "She is an amazing player. She strikes the ball really cleanly. She was given an opportunity at the top of the order and grabbed it with both hands."

On how London Spirit can build on this win: "We need to keep doing the basics right and being a bit clearer about our plans. Plus playing with a smile on your face and enjoying it. That's what is great about competitions such as the Hundred."

London Spirit bowler Freya Davies on BBC Two: "It's always hard to have a few losses on the road but it's lovely to get a win, especially at home.

"We knew we weren't a million miles off, we just needed to be a bit better for a bit longer and we managed that today.

"You always picture getting wickets like that [of Annabel Sutherland], but to get it at Lord's is even more special. It would've been nice to have a hat-trick but I'll take two in two! I'll save that for next time.

"Beth Mooney is in incredible form. I'm very glad she's on my team! She makes it look so easy and it's great to have her at the top of the order to get us off to a good start.

"It was a big loss to lose Heather Knight, but Charlie Dean has really stepped up, it takes a lot to captain on this stage. But we've got a really strong group and it's nice to put a performance together today and really show what we are made of."

The London Spirit might have won but they've got a really tough road ahead if they want to make it through to the next stage.

Never fun when you've got to rely on other results going your way but that's where the Spirit find themselves.

They'll desperately hope that they can carry the winning momentum through to their next game.

So that's officially the end of the road for the Welsh Fire. They cannot qualify through to the knockouts.

They'll be pretty distraught with that performance, they were thoroughly outplayed in all departments.

They've got two games to go and only pride to play for.
