England's bowling was expectational right from the beginning.

  3. 'I feel I still have it'published at 21:57 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

England bowler Katherine Brunt, who took 4-15: "I feel older. I am just trying to keep ticking along. I was really keen to make an impact in this series. This year has been really difficult. I seem to have come good at the best time.

"I have been worrying really hard with Tim McDonald our bowling coach. When you are older you have doubts that creep in and if you listen enough it can affect you.

"I feel I still have it and as long as I do I will keep going."

More from Heather Knight: "It's nice, it's been really nice after the winter to just have some easy wins and just be low maintenance. We've ticked a lot of boxes of what we wanted to do better [but] it's only the start.

"We need to keep doing that and keep that intent that we've had, intent to take wickets, intent to be as aggressive as we have with the bat. Finding our way with it is going to take a little bit of time but what a start.

"We've done everything we can to put in some really clinical performances."

On rotation in last two T20s: "Potentially. Our main goal is to be ready for the Commonwealths. There are three games in quick succession so the main thing is trying to get players in the best place. We may rest players here and there."

England captain Heather Knight: "I thought we were outstanding with the ball, Katherine [Brunt] set the tone really nicely. I think she's been itching to get back with the ball in her hand. What a display she put on. A clinical performance.

"Kathy has got so much knowledge that she is willing to share with the youngsters. I think she quite enjoys it, passing on her wisdom and the youngsters are keen to soak it up, particularly Issy Wong.

On Dunkley opening: "More impressive is the way she went about it, the intent she had. It's a slightly new role for her and it is going to take some time to adjust to it and find out how to go about it. But it was fun to watch."

South Africa captain Sune Luus: "Obviously we were just a couple of runs short and the bowlers did well today. Ayabonga [Khaka] put on a bit of a show and Laura Wolvaardt's knock as well, good positives to take out of today.

"It's just one bad game for us but we take a lot of positives from it. As I say, the bowlers did well and we just need one or two more batters to fire as well to put up that big score.

"It's not always nice to be on the losing side but there is a bigger picture for us with the Commonwealth Games and the World Cup next year."

Laura Wolvaardt did her best to lift South Africa despite the baffling decision to drop her down to bat at four.

However, England were too strong with Sophie Ecclestone also helping herself to a pair of wickets as the tourists were restricted to 111-9.

The well rested Katherine Brunt returned to show she is still a force to be reckoned with at 37 years of age.

Four wickets tonight, career-best figures and now 102 T20 international wickets, putting her level with Anya Shrubsole as the joint-most prolific English bowler in the format.

  11. England secure multi-format series winpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

A rain-affected draw in the Test match but England were dominant in the ODI series, they were dominant in the first T20 tonight and they have clinched the multi-format series.

Sophia Dunkley was the star with the bat tonight, blasting 59 from 39 balls in her first innings since being promoted to open.

With the ball, it was Katherine Brunt leading the way - some things never change - as she took career-best T20 figures of 4-15, while Sophie Ecclestone chipped in with a couple of wickets too.

South Africa well beaten despite a half-century from Laura Wolvaardt and three wickets for Ayabonga Khaka.
