  1. SA 54-1published at 8 overs

    Target 177

Brits middles it but the strike through square leg goes straight to the fielder on the boundary.

The batter advances down and Ecclestone bowls into the legs. Clever stuff from the spinner.

    Just six from the over.

With Alice Capsey and Freya Kemp it's the first time England have had two 17-year-olds in a women's team for quite some time. The last occasion was in an ODI in Chennai in 2007, when Sarah Taylor and Holly Colvin were both picked at 17.

  3. SA 51-1published at 7.3 overs

And it is Ecclestone who returns to the attack. Bosch takes a leg bye and Brits plays a premeditated reverse sweep down to fine-leg boundary for two.

The 50 is up for South Africa. Still a looonnnggg way to go.

In case you missed it, here's that spectacular final over hitting from Sophie Ecclestone earlier this evening.

Sarah Glenn had a fast start to international cricket, then had a tricky period where batters found her out a little bit. She made a brave decision not to go the World Cup as a reserve and stayed at home to work on her game. She had, is back here, and we are seeing the benefit of that.

  6. Eng 48-1published at 7 overs

    Target 177

My word - how did that not hit the stumps? Glenn has one skidding through and it just about clears the top of middle.

England =miss out on a stumping chance. Amy Jones gathers the ball with one hand from outside off. She has one stump to aim for but misses.

Tazmin Brits is a former junior world javelin champion. She was in line to be selected for the London 2012 Olympics before being involved in car accident. She made her cricket debut for South Africa some six years later.

  9. SA 43-1published at 6 overs

Tazmin Brits, not for the first time, takes a walk down the pitch to Brunt. She's struck on the back thigh. A short discussion between captain and bowler on whether to review. They wisely decide against it.

Brunt bangs it in short and Amy Jones does very well standing up to the stumps, taking the ball at head height. She's a fine wicketkeeper.

We used to wind up Katherine Brunt by telling her that everyone else was bowling quicker than her as it gave her an extra yard of pace. She would say she didn't care about her pace but we knew secretly she did!

  11. SA 43-1published at 5.3 overs

    Target 177

After the solitary over from Sophie Ecclestone, Katherine Brunt returns to the attack.

Tazmin Brits greets her with lofted drive over mid-on for four.

It looks like Freya Kemp was a little slow off the rope so had to put in a diving effort and it slipped through her hands.

  13. SA 39-1published at 5 overs

Tazmin Brits sweetly punches Wong down the ground for a delightful boundary.

There is then almost a terrific catch from Freya Kemp as Brits mistimes a pull and the fielder makes the ground but doesn't quite time her dive.

A good over for the tourists - 14 from it.

  14. SA 30-1published at 4.3 overs

Brits walks down the track and slices Issy Wong through backward point for four. Wong comes back with another cracking delivery which beats the bat.

The batter misses out on a full toss which should really have been sent crashing to the boundary.

    A good tussle this.

She's a bit lucky there because she didn't slide the bat in but kind of plonked it.

  16. Not outpublished at 4 overs

    SA 25-1

The bat is grounded but there was not much of an effort from Brits to make her ground.

A direct hit from Issy Wong. We go to the TV umpire but I think Brits is safe.

Tazmin Brits is an experienced player and will not be frightened about taking on Sophie Ecclestone.

  20. SA 24-1published at 3.3 overs

After her brilliance with the bat, star spinner Sophie Ecclestone is introduced to the attack. And she shows her quality almost instantly, forcing Brits on the back foot.

But Brits replies with a tremendous hit - advancing down the wicket for a one-bounce four down to the long-on boundary.
