  5. Scottish cricket's darkest daypublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 27 July 2022

    Scotland v New Zealand (14:30)

    The report was commissioned after a number of allegations were made last year, most prominently by former Scotland internationals Majid Haq and Qasim Sheikh.

    It found:

    • A lack of any equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) or anti-racist training in place for board, staff, volunteers, players, coaches or umpires;
    • No consistent mechanism or process for handling racist incidents;
    • A lack of diversity from board level to coaching;
    • Lack of transparency in the selection process in the talent pathway and the absence of a single uniform approach to selection.

    The entire Cricket Scotland board resigned on Sunday, ahead of the report's publication, and the operation of Cricket Scotland has been placed into special measures until October 2023.

    Haq and Sheikh have both said that they hope this can act as a watershed moment, improving the game for current and future generations.

    The build-up to these fixtures has been overshadowed by the independent review into allegations of racism in Scottish cricket.

    Published on Monday, it found the governance and leadership of the sport to be institutionally racist, highlighting 448 specific examples.
