Jonny Barton: I've been lucky enough to see both Broady's 5-for at the Oval in 2009 and 8-for at Trent Bridge in 2015. What a bowler and what an atmosphere he creates!

  4. NZ 46-5published at 19 overs

    Target 394

Not content with his four wickets, Stuart Broad has just hurled himself after the ball on the boundary edge in an attempt to stop Michael Bracewell getting four.

You'd earned a rest, Stuart, but fair play.

He replaces the massive divot too before removing his cap for over number 10.

  5. NZ 40-5published at 18.3 overs

We've got a break in play here. Daryl Mitchell has done himself a mischief running a single somehow.

He's now laid on him back with the physio stretching out his hamstring.

I was having a job interview on the day of Broad's 8-15. I was doing a presentation as part of it and one of the directors I was presenting to was unsubtly glued to his phone. It worked though, we won the Ashes and it distracted attention from my ropey presentation and they felt obliged to offer me the job.

  7. NZ 39-5published at 18 overs

    Target 394

It's another maiden from Stuart Broad, a fourth on the spin as he remains stuck on 4-15.

Mitchell does not look comfortable. Broad comes close to sneaking one onto his front pad.

I'm getting married today AND Broad is on one. I think my Broad memory is forming!

Here's a slight blow to the Stuart Broad ego. Ben Foakes is going to stand up to the stumps with Daryl Mitchell marching out of his crease.

"He's big, he's bad, he's better than his dad," sing the England fans.

I was a trainee at a city law firm during that Broad spell in the 2015 Ashes. My supervisor was a big cricket fan, so we were sneakily watching the match on an iPad instead of working. Suddenly, one of the most senior partners in entire firm barged into our office. We jumped, expecting a proper telling off, but she just yelled excitedly "HAVE YOU SEEN THE SCORE?!"

    He's STILL going.

Ben Stokes cannot get the ball out of Stuart Broad's hand.

This will be his ninth over in a row.

Only just waking up? There's good news and bad news.

The bad news is you've missed one of those Stuart Broad spells.

The good news is that it's not finished just yet.

After England set New Zealand 394 to win, Broad has bowled four of the Black Caps' top six in an astonishing spell of bowling.

Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Tom Latham and Tom Blundell have all gone, while Ollie Robinson had Henry Nicholls caught behind.

Earlier in the day, England made 374 in their second innings with contributions throughout the order.

Joe Root top-scored with 57 from 62 balls, Harry Brook thumped 54 from 41 balls and Ben Foakes was the third to a half-century, making 51 from 80 balls.

Neil Wagner went the distance, taking 2-110 from just 13 overs, after England made a flying start to day two and following a more becalmed second session, they were bowled out 20 minutes after the dinner break.

From there it has been all about Broad, who has reduced New Zealand to 39-5.

  13. NZ 39-5published at 17 overs

England need five wickets to win

Finally some respite for New Zealand as Michael Bracewell drives down the ground. England have so many fielders catching that it's always going to be four.

There's about half an hour left in the day.

A peaceful beach scene in Sri Lanka laughingly disturbed by my wife almost falling off her sunbed as my roars of Get in !!! as Broad takes the 3rd wicket. (Forgot I had headphones on)

Jason: When Stuart Broad gets on a roll like this, he really is the best seam bowler in the world. I don't think there's any other "hot streak" bowler like him.

England haven't won a Test in New Zealand for 15 years remember.

I feel for Ollie Robinson at the moment. Everyone just wants to see Stuart Broad at the other end.

The 36-year-old is going to start another.

I remember the 2015 Ashes and that Broad spell when he got 8. My boss and I had been in a meeting and missed it, we came out, the pair of us checked our phones for the score. Our eyes popped simultaneously! Amazing stuff.
