Will the break bring a breakthrough?

What Pakistan have gotten so good at in the last few years is turning dot balls into singles and rotating the strike rate. It's such clever batting.

Bismah Maroof became a mother in August 2021 and seven months later she brought her daughter to the World Cup as Pakistan took on India at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand.

    Just lovely.

The sun is beaming down over Newlands now as Bismah Maroof and Sidra Amin set about rotating the strike, nudging eight runs off Pooja Vastrakar's latest over.

They are very quick between the wickets and it is giving Harmanpreet Kaur something to think about.

Harmanpreet is also nursing a shoulder injury and it is noticeable in the field, she isn't quite throwing herself about as she might do if 100% fit.

Grenada in the Caribbean is particularly picturesque - what is your favourite cricket ground?

Four singles lift Pakistan up to 50 - what will they be aiming for here? Their rate was over six but has dipped well below five now.

We are having a debate in the office about which country has the most picturesque cricket grounds.

South Africa and New Zealand have to be up there. Grounds in the Caribbean are beautiful as well.

Sidra Amin is the new batter as Pakistan have another rebuilding job on their hands.

A lot of responsibility on the shoulders of skipper Bismah Maroof, who is 24 from 24 so far.

What a review that is! That is fantastic cricket. It didn't look like she'd hit it at all. What a great delivery for Vastrakar, she went for the short ball and Dar is an aggressive player. She was always going to take that on.

It is the faintest of edges! Nida Dar goes second ball.

    A brilliant review by India.

Time for some seam as Pooja Vastrakar comes into the attack - and has she got Nida Dar caught behind attempting the pull?

Harmanpreet Kaur sends it upstairs - if Dar has touched it is its the faintest of edges.

Vastrakar doesn't look totally convinced but Harmanpreet is.

Muneeba Ali is out but Bismah Maroof is still there for Pakistan and she has already demonstrated some of the attacking shots she has in her locker.

You could sense that was going to happen. There was a lot of movement in the crease and it's clever bowling from Radha.

  13. wicket

Muneeba st Richa b Yadav 12 (Pak 42-2)

    Partnership broken!

Radha Yadav comes into the attack and strikes in her first over as Muneeba Ali skips down the track attempting the big heave, but misses the ball and is stumped miles out of her crease.

The pace that Gayakwad and Deepti are bowling at is interesting. You'd expect the ball to be turning but there isn't too much on offer on this wicket.

What a start this has been for Pakistan!

  16. Pak 39-1published at 6 overs

What a shot by Muneeba Ali - she has heaved Deepti Sharma into the on-side for a one-bounce four!

That flew off the middle of the bat and was inches away from being a six.

Pakistan end the powerplay 39-1, I think they will be happy with that.

Bismah Maroof has absolutely nailed that! Left-armer Rajeshwari Gyakwad is into the attack and Bismah has perfectly connected with a sweep-shot that flies away for four.

Bismah moves on to 18 from 17 balls.

Here is the first wicket of the day to fall, Javeria Wadood dismissed for eight off the bowling of Deepti Sharma.

  20. Pak 24-1published at 4 overs

Bismah Maroof goes to sweep Deepti Sharma again but gets in a bit of a tangle and the over ends with a dot ball.

Still, that was a good over for Pakistan.
