Sri Lanka, who shocked hosts South Africa on Friday, slipped to 25-3 in pursuit of 127 amid an inspired opening spell from 18-year-old Marufa Akter.
But Harshitha Madavi hit 69 not out and Nilakshi de Silva an unbeaten 41 to secure victory with 10 balls to spare.
On Tuesday, defending champions Australia took a big step to the semi-finals of the Women's T20 World Cup with an eight-wicket win over Bangladesh.
Chasing 108 in Gqeberha, they won with 10 balls to spare, with captain Meg Lanning hitting an unbeaten 48 after opener Alyssa Healy made 37.
Bangladesh made 107-7 with Nigar Sultana Joty scoring 57, while the returning Georgia Wareham claimed 3-20.

If Australia beat Sri Lanka, they will take a big step towards qualifying for the semi-finals, but will need to either win, tie or have a washout in their final match to be sure and guarantee top spot.
If that game finishes in a tie or is a no result, then both teams will qualify with a win in their final group match, with net run-rate deciding the group winner.
