    Here's that winning moment...

  3. 'This is the way we want to be playing'published at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine: "I think the performance is what I'm most proud of from this team.

"It hasn't been the greatest of starts from us. This is the way we want to be playing, it doesn't matter who it's against. I'm proud of this group and we have a big game to come.

"I think today we spoke about following the process and not getting ahead of ourselves. We've got a big net run-rate to close but you can't do it it in one go.

"This game gives me a lot of confidence moving into the next game.

"The spin bowling group has an average age of 20-years-old. Molly Penfold did a great job in her first World Cup, there's so many positives to take out of it.

"It's all to play for in the next game."

  4. 'We gave too many runs away'published at 16:18 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty: "I think we're more than capable of [a closer game]. We played good cricket against Sri Lanka and Australia. We gave too many runs away in the bowling and it cost us. We were under lots of pressure with the bat.

"We didn't get enough runs with the bat in the power play.

"Our young players are very energetic and talented and we're growing day by day. I have to give a special mention to Shorna Akter.

"You can see the changes we are making. The team is improving a lot with how we are competing in this competition."

  5. 'That's the brand of cricket we want to stick to'published at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2023

Player of the match, New Zealand opener Suzie Bates: "Cricket can be a cruel game and the way I started the World Cup and the team started was disappointing. We had a tough game against South Africa but we just decided how to play as a team and that was to hit it hard and down the ground.

"It was good to bounce back and get the win.

"When you have two low scores it's tough. What impressed me most was that I followed the plan and stepped up. We've kept ourselves in the tournament.

"I've had plenty of people reach out to me. That means a lot to me more than any amount of runs.

"I'm disappointed with the way we've started, but the nature of a World Cup is if you don't turn up, you're behind the ball.

"It's nice to post a score and bat the way we want to play. That's the brand of cricket we want to stick to."

New Zealand will be happy to get the win but they will be thinking could we have bowled them out quicker and been a bit tighter in the field.

They will have to win big against Sri Lanka.

This win will give New Zealand hope. It is a slim hope but they are back in it.

They have beaten Bangladesh by more than South Africa beat them and that will give them some hope. They are not out of it and they will take it to the last group game.

Handy little bowler is Carson. They've stuck with her and it's paid off. I think she's had the best bowling figures of the tournament.

Shorna was just looking to open the face of the bat and guide the ball through the vacant slips. She just didn't get enough on it.
