We'll be back on Thursday when holders Australia face India in the first semi-final at 13:00 GMT.

And on Friday afternoon, England and South Africa face off in the second semi-final.

  2. 'An incredible feeling'published at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

South Africa captain Sune Luus: "It was good that they batted through. It was a nervy start but you've got to back your players. They are world-class players. I am just happy with the win and hopefully we can continue it in the semis.

"The bowling unit were excellent. They've hit their straps again tonight and 113 was under par on this wicket.

"It is the first semi-final in South Africa. Newlands has been packed tonight and hopefully again on Friday. I am stoked with the performance.

"It is a massive honour [to lead the side in a home semi-final]. This was the game I did the least, I was just a spectator. It is an incredible feeling. We'll just go home and soak it in because opportunities like this don't come around very often.

"I know people in Cape Town don't work past 2pm on a Friday so hopefully the crowd are all here again!"

  4. 'We needed 140 or more'published at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

    Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty:

"I guess with this surface we needed 140 or more to defend. We couldn't manage runs in the powerplay, we are looking forward to playing better in our next match.

"It is very difficult to defend a small total and miss chances. We created chances but they missed out and it's very hard on the bowlers. We'll talk about that and work on that.

"Thanks to the Bangladeshi crowd, after losing three matches they are still here thinking we could do well here and were supporting us tonight."

South Africa came here with a job to do and they have done it. The scorecard doesn't tell the ups and downs of this game.

Bangladesh will feel that if they could have put another 20 runs on the board they could have put more pressure on there. They made it really difficult in the powerplay, but the openers have ground it out.

Player of the match Laura Wolvaardt who struck an unbeaten 66 for South Africa:

"I think Taz [Brits] and I were under a bit of pressure we didn't get off to the best starts. It was a mental innings to stay in it and trust the runs would come at the end.

"We made it look a bit harder than it was, it was actually a good wicket to bat on. I think our bowlers deserve this trophy for restricting them on this good surface.

"Looking at where we started with the loss to Sri Lanka, to come back it's so good and we look forward to the semis.

"I've had a tough tournament so far so this feels really good."

We did wonder at the halfway mark of the chase whether they were getting themselves into trouble but it is all sunshine in the end.

A 51-ball half-century doesn't sound too bad in the end, does it?

She could have been out about four times, though.

England will have been watching this game and they will be interested in how South Africa have approached it.

England will not be fearing them. South Africa have some quality players but it feels like they have some pressure on them.

It feels like the crowd are putting even more pressure on them, and that will be even higher in a semi-final.

If any two balls decided the game, I'd suggest these. The relief after that second boundary...

  19. SA 102-0published at 16.4 overs

Tazmin Brits gets away with one as she smashes the ball high into the air but it lands just out of the reach of diving skipper Nigar Sultana Joty.

    Worryingly Joty stays down...
