Well, thank you for joining us for a fun, confusing, chaotic, entertaining Hundred draft.

It was great to see the women's players involved in the draft process this year, the first time this has happened for a major sport in the UK.

Keep an eye on our squads page for all the comings and goings between now and when the competition begins on 1 August.

    Bring on the cricket season!

  2. Postpublished at 18:16 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2023

The men's squads are much more complete, with 13 players signed, and they will have two more domestic players which will come from their wildcard picks.

We're not sure on the time frame for these either but will probably be during or after the T20 Blast.

At the end of all that, it looks like we’ve got some good squads in the women's competition.

General feeling among those watching on here at the draft is that Welsh Fire are looking good.

  5. Postpublished at 18:11 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2023

The women's teams have all still got seven slots remaining in their squads, with players still able to be signed in the "open market" stage. That means teams can speak directly with players, and players have a little bit more control and choice about where they want to play.

We're not entirely sure when that market starts or finishes, but will probably happen during the women's domestic season where coaches can keep an eye on performances.

  9. 'A much-changed Welsh Fire'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2023

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Tom Abell may have missed out on an England debut this year because of injury but he now has the sizeable consolation of a £125,000 rating and likely captaincy of much-changed Welsh Fire under new men’s coach Mike ‘Mr Cricket’ Hussey.

All-rounder David Willey, together with Pakistani pacemen Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf should bring aggression to the attack.

Veteran Somerset spinner Roelof van der Merwe is the only slow bowler in the ranks unless Kiwi Glenn Phillips takes off the keeping pads, while young all-rounder Dan Douthwaite flies the flag for the Welsh county.

After repeated overseas withdrawals in the last two years plus the late pull-out of Jonny Bairstow in 2022, Hussey will now be crossing his fingers that everyone turns up if the franchise is to get off the bottom of the table.

    Saqib Mahmood

We've got a lot of batters up top and we've got two good picks here. I think Haris Rauf was one of the guys we were interested but Welsh Fire got there just before us.

We've got good local seamers but if one goes down we don't have another so I imagine we'd go for that.
