It's going to be a case of patience now for Heather Knight and Nat Sciver-Brunt. I don't think those wickets fell at a good time but we have two very experienced players at the crease now.

  2. Eng 141-3published at 21 overs

More miserly stuff from Georgia Wareham, just the four runs off her latest over. But thanks to that flying start that is all England need.

The reverse sweep is one of Nat Sciver Brunt's strengths at the moment.

  4. Eng 137-3published at 20 overs

Lovely reverse-sweep from Nat Sciver-Brunt that flies past short third for four.

    England past the halfway mark.

  5. Eng 130-3published at 19 overs

Just the two singles from Georgia Wareham's latest over. She is 1-16 from her four overs so far.

And here is how she fell, picking out Annabel Sutherland on the rope.

Alice Capsey had had success hitting through long on and deep mid-wicket but it proved her downfall in the end...

Alice Capsey is no respecter of reputations, charging Megan Schutt and smashing the ball over her head for six.

  9. Eng 128-3published at 18 overs

The spinners are really racing through the overs now and they are also slowing down the scoring.

That was the first maiden of the match from Ash Gardner.

It looked pretty straight so I can see why Healy went for it.

And that is why, Heather Knight just got a thin edge as the ball went through.

    The skipper survives.

  12. Australia reviewpublished at 17.3 overs

Ash Gardner just rushes one through a little quicker and the ball smacks into Heather Knight's back leg. The umpire says no but Australia send it upstairs.

Knight looks fairly relaxed as awaits the replay on the big screen.

What is going on with Australia?! Mooney is usually a superb fielder.

  14. Eng 128-3published at 17 overs

More un-Australia like play as Beth Mooney fumbles the boundary and gifts England four runs.

This is not what we are used to seeing.

  15. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 12 July 2023

England needed to make a fast start and they certainly got that from Tammy Beaumont, who smashed the ball all over the park.

  16. Eng 122-3published at 16 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt comes out to the middle to join Heather Knight. This experienced pair will just need to steady the ship after those two quick wickets.

England are still in a really strong position.

This is where the real test will come for England.

They're on top, but can they stay there? Australia always have a habit of fighting back when they need to the most.

They are never out of the game, and you can never be complacent against them.

    WICKETpublished at 15.4 overs

    Capsey c Sutherland b Gardner 40 (Eng 121-3)

    Caught on the boundary!

Alice Capsey charges Ash Gardner but cannot quite get the ball over Annabel Sutherland at long-on, who takes a smart catch.
