Time for us to call it a night.

I'll leave you with Ffion Wynne's report from Edgbaston, and some of the best moments to watch again below.

The next T20 in the women's Ashes is on Wednesday night. It is a must-win for England or Australia will retain the Ashes.

We'll be back with live text, video clips and radio commentary from The Oval. The game starts at 18:00 BST.

There's plenty more cricket before then though! There's the final day of the men's Ashes Test at Lord's on Sunday, with build-up from 08:00 BST. There's also the final group games in the T20 Blast. You can follow it all on the BBC Sport website and app.

    See you then!

Kate Cross is so consistent with the new ball so maybe she will be someone banging down the door to play in the next two matches. Maybe that's what England need. They don't need to reinvent the wheel because they are not far away. Australia will be scared. They are 6-0 up in the series and in control but it hasn't been all their way in the Test match and again today.

Here's the moment that Australia got over the line with a scrambled single.

They are now in complete control of the multi-format series with a 6-0 lead. There are 10 points still on offer.

  4. 'We're not too far away'published at 21:56 British Summer Time 1 July 2023

England's Nat Sciver-Brunt speaking to BBC Sport: "I guess to get so close, there were tiny moments in the game where it could have gone differently. It didn't look like we were going to get to such a big score, Amy did so well at the end.

"I guess we have to keep believing in what we're doing, if we did things differently we might have been a different result. We just need to find a way to maintain being on top.

"Amy really was able to make sure she was in towards the end. We didn't have the partnerships we needed. We struggled to find fluency.

"Keep believing in our process and all the good things we've done in this series, we're not too far away."

Beth Mooney was the difference though with a brilliant and well-paced unbeaten 61 off 47 balls.

The left-hander is so consistent and offers a crucial difference alongside the right-handers for Australia.

When you have a below-par score everything needs to go right for you in the field. Beth Mooney just anchored the innings for Australia and with her side batting all the way down you never felt England had that game in control. That is the closest England have come to beating Australia in a long while. England's players have to believe - they have two huge games at Lord's and The Oval now.

    Amy Jones was another.

She came into the game under pressure and only averaged nine across Australia.

But she made a brilliant quickfire 40 off 21 balls.

She was also her usual tidy self behind the stumps with a brilliant stumping and a good catch to remove Ash Gardner.

There were positives for England tonight.

One of them was Sophia Dunkley making her first half-century of the summer.

She perhaps wasn't at her fluent best but she did play some really good strokes, especially with Australia restricting her favourite area over mid-off really well.

It was a gamble to bowl Lauren Bell in the penultimate over. I would have gone Sophie Ecclestone and given Lauren Bell a bigger target in the final over.

They really run Australia close and England did really well to get up to that score. The tricky thing is you have to be exceptional against Australia.

England got so close to beating the world champions. It was tiny mistakes which cost them and maybe being 10 runs too light. Fine margins. The top line is, though, Australia are 6-0 up in the women's Ashes.

Beth Mooney finishes 61 not out off 47 balls.

She is world-class and batting through the innings was probably the difference in the end.

England lost set batters in Heather Knight and Sophia Dunkley at key points and that perhaps halted some of their momentum at the back end.

Goodness, England got so close! They've shown tonight they can fight with this team and run them close. They can put the under pressure.

Like before tonight's game England need nine points to win the Ashes.

They still need nine points to win the Ashes, they just have one less game to do it in.

There are now only 10 points left to play for. England must win all five of the remaining games - or win four and tie the other, or hope for a no result.

It is a huge mountain to climb.

Georgia Wareham cuts to the cover fielder but she and Beth Mooney scramble through for a single.

It gives Australia a four-wicket and they go 6-0 up in the multi-format series.

Two balls to go. England would love a tie from this position.

Annabel Sutherland tries to rock back and pull Sophie Ecclestone away but it just loops up for Amy Jones to take a simple catch.

Australia need one run from two balls to win.

Smashed back at Sophie Ecclestone by Annabel Sutherland and she does superbly to stop it.
