  1. Goodnight!published at 22:31 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

Heather Knight lifts the trophy for this T20 series, her squad arm-in-arm around her.

Their successive wins in this series secured a 2-1 victory and kept the overall Ashes series alive. You can find out how it happened in Ffion Wynne's report from Lord's here.

The three-match ODI series starts in Bristol on Wednesday, with matches to come in Southampton and Taunton over the following week.

Meanwhile, if you need your cricket itch scratching further, the third men's Test at Headingley resumes at 11:00 BST tomorrow and is tantilisingly poised. Here's Matt Henry with the state of play.

What a night - we'll see you shortly.

More from Heather Knight talking to TMS: "It was a really important toss to win, it is definitely a good ground to chase on. Under lights and a bit of rain it probably skidded on a little bit but I still think it was a really good wicket all the way through.

"I was a bit frustrated to get out there. I'm not quite sure how that was hitting the stumps! We just wanted to get it done and Dani Gibson, I love that she came out and reverse-swept her first ball. That is the sort of confidence we want in a player and to play to their strengths.

"The ODI series is a new format but I still don't think we've played the perfect game yet. The final over cost us quite a lot tonight, with the drops in there, and things like that. We've fielded so well in the series but tonight was probably our worse night. It is just about flipping formats, getting our skills where they need to be and keeping the momentum going."

  3. 'We are matching Australia cricket wise'published at 22:29 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

More from Heather Knight talking to TMS: "I haven't actually won many games at Lord's but today was about soaking it in a little bit as well and trying to enjoy the atmosphere. The support has been so good, we've loved it. It is credit to both teams the cricket that has been played and to get people out and momentum behind the series. There is still a long way to go.

"The way we've fought back in this series has been really pleasing. we've felt like we're not far away and once we'd got that win it felt like we'd got over that hurdle a little bit. Hopefully we can keep that going.

"Australia are still a very good side. They keep coming at you. They've got a lot of depth and the amount of all-rounders they've got means they can use different match-ups when they need it but there is just belief in our side that we're playing some really good cricket and matching them cricket wise. In the past it was probably about mentality and I think we've worked really hard on that leading into the series and the fruits of our labours are starting to show."

  4. 'Pleased to see people standing up'published at 22:25 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

England captain Heather Knight on Test Match Special: "We talked yesterday about wanting a series win in the T20s and I'm really proud of the girls and the way we went about it. The pitch is actually quite different to what we thought, it can be quite slow and spin dominates at Lord's, but it actually felt like seam was quite hard to get away, hence juggling the bowlers a little bit. The really pleasing thing is that when someone doesn't have a great day someone else is standing up and we're able to have a real team performance.

"I thought the target was a bit high, I was hoping for a bit less! With a shortened game it is what it is, we were just preparing for anything. It's not that nice waiting around when you're in the game. The way Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt started really took the intent to Australia and made the most of the four-over powerplay.

"Alice Capsey was awesome. She probably hasn't played how she wanted to in the first two but to play like that and take the game on is exactly how we want her to play so I'm really pleased for her."

Is this showing that there might be a shift at the top of the women's game?

Yes, Australia are still comfortably the best side but they are no longer the unbeatable side.

England have definitely shown that. Even in the losses they were close games.

Well played to all the squad, they've had to rely on some additional players.

England have stuck by the way that Jon Lewis and Heather Knight have asked them to play, even under pressure.

Alice Capsey was England's top scorer tonight with 46 from 23. Here's her magnificent six from Jess Jonassen.

Australia will be stunned by back-to-back losses. They haven't felt that for a very long time.

They just didn't put enough runs on the board. The wicket was a little bit slower and they didn't adjust as well as they perhaps could have.

The rain may have played into England's favour but wow, what a performance, especially from Alice Capsey. It was an entertaining knock.

It is going to take something special and remarkable for England to win the Ashes for the first time since 2014 but they are fighting and scrapping.

    The fans now believe.

England win big games at Lord's. It seems like this place really lifts them and they want to make a statement every time they play here.

The Ashes are still alive. It is fantastic.

Dani Gibson is new in the team but being the one to put their hand up and keep England in the Ashes, she will hold onto that for a very long time.

What a future she is going to have.

England have self belief and that is what Jon Lewis has done. He's made them believe in themselves. He's told them to go out there and play aggressive cricket.

Australia are human and they are make mistakes. Yes, they are a remarkable cricket team and the best in the world and yes, they don't lose many cricket matches, but the way this team believe in themselves it almost like 'what have we been doing for all these years!?!'.

    Bring it on.

  15. Where does this leave The Ashes?published at 22:14 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

Australia raced away in the series, winning four points in the one-off Test and two from the opening T20. Reaching six points meant that another victory would ensure they retained the Ashes.

Successive T20 wins have brought England to two points behind their opposition, but the formula remains the same - they can't let Australia win and can only afford one tie or no result in the forthcoming three-match ODI series.

  16. 'Pressure is on Australia'published at 22:12 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alex Blackwell

I see this England scrapping and that is something that Australia do so well.

England held their nerve and they scrapped to a T20 series victory.

It was a special night for Heather Knight and a special moment for England.

The pressure is on Australia going into the ODI series.

  17. 'England might be doing something special'published at 22:12 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

We said at The Oval that this Australia side just do not lose, let alone lose two games in a row.

This England side might just be doing something special.

A late wobble for England, losing a wicket in each of the last three overs, but England's top order had set a platform that meant they were always favourites.

Alice Capsey top scores with 46 from 23 deliveries.

They emerge as winners in this shortened game and win the series 2-1.
