  1. 6 runs

    Eng 57-2published at 6 overs

England's new batters have not paused to take stock - although they didn't really have time to do so.

Sciver-Brunt sweeps new bowler Jess Jonassen for four before three successive singles brings up England's 50.

Alice Capsey then sends Jonassen, who hasn't really found her line, for an absolutely massive six over mid-wicket.

    14 off the over.

I think we're heading for a final-over thriller. There'll be times when both teams are on top.

  3. Eng 43-2published at 5 overs

If you've lost track Alice Capsey and Nat Sciver-Brunt are now the batters in the middle.

Now we've got through five overs we'll definitely have a result so Australia will either regain the Ashes tonight or England will still be in them.

After five overs England needed to be on 40 if they'd lost two wickets so they are ahead of the DLS.

It was a good adjustment. They stuck with the fielder but tried to get out of the over with a bouncer and she went for it and got a faint edge.

But, has Wyatt done enough to set the tone?

Is this the opening Australia needed?

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.1 overs

    Dunkley c Jonassen b Brown 9 (Eng 39-2)

    Two in two!

Sophia Dunkley goes for an almighty slog from the first ball of Darcie Brown's over, skies it straight up in the air and Jess Jonassen takes a smart catch at cover.

It looked easy, but swirling under dark skies, that was a tough one.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4 overs

    Wyatt c Healy b Schutt 26 (Eng 39-1)

Danni Wyatt needed stopping - and they've got her!

After the boundaries at the start of the over, it's Megan Schutt that wins the battle. Wyatt prods at a well-directed short ball, gets an edge and Alyssa Healy gobbles the catch.

    A big blow for England.

Australia have missed a trick by not having an extra fielder on the off side for Wyatt. Yes, you can bowl tight and cramp her with leg-side fielders but you can also pack the off side.

At times Australia are a dog with a bone and they are not willing to adjust.

Danni Wyatt was continually happy to move to leg and hit over the off side at The Oval and it has been the same here.

Australia don't need a mid-wicket here, they could have another fielder in the off side.

  10. Eng 31-0published at 3.3 overs

Consecutive fours through the off-side for Wyatt once again. First she crashes Schutt through the covers - the Australian fielders gave chase to no avail. No point in running after the following delivery, it's lifted powerfully through point.

Danni Wyatt is not at all intimidated by the Australia bowlers. She's got historic centuries against them.

Danni Wyatt is amazing with her off-side shots.

  13. Eng 26-0published at 3 overs

Ash Gardner's spin is introduced in the third over. She dries the ball extensively on the towel hanging out the back of her trousers.

A touch too full from Gardner, landing on middle and Wyatt slaps her through the covers, no need to run for that. Four more from the following ball, again hit through the off-side, a little wider this time.

Sophia Dunkley will have learned that Australia are going to keep coming at her with the short ball but she is looking to score.

That is a great shot from Sophia Dunkley but the ball really plugged in the outfield, and that shows just how tricky it is going to be for England when Australia are allowed to spread the field.

  16. Eng 17-0published at 2 overs

Short from Brown, and Dunkley hooks hard to clear the infield. There's no-one riding the square boundary and the crowd roar their appreciation a long time before the ball reaches the ropes.

They're already applying sawdust to Darcie Brown's landing foot hole.

It is always hard to understand how the numbers come out in the wash when you're playing in rain-affected games.

You always feel like you're better batting first if there is rain around but England chose to bowl today.

It sometimes feels like there is a red sock hidden in the white wash when the numbers come out and you go 'how on earth has that happened?'.

  19. Eng 8-0published at 1 over

Schutt offers a bit of width outside off and Danni Wyatt doesn't need asking twice, she cuts savagely to the boundary.

Darcie Brown will take the second over. The powerplay in this shortened innings will last four overs.

This is still a decent run chase at 8.5 runs an over.

It will be tough because it is difficult to get going on this pitch.

I would say it is Australia's to win at the moment.
