Hampshire 77-3 v Essex
Nice work from Liam Dawson, back-cutting Matt Critchley for a much-needed four past point. You can see why he was being mentioned for a return to the England test side a while back.

Hampshire 70-3 v Essex
More smart keeping from Rossington, who feels Weatherley has edged Harmer into his gloves. It is given not out, and on review replays show there was no edge so Hampshire stay three down.

Sat on the sofa seething that the sun is out at Edgbaston. The rest of the family decided there was no point going to Finals Day due to the forecast. Probably the only one hoping it starts raining soon.

Shhhh, no rain dances please, in fact no mention of the word at all...

It was a great effort. He actually caught the ball but he wasn’t in a great position so his momentum took him over the boundary.
He just threw it just too far from his body but it was a great catch and a great bit of fielding.
He’s saved six there.
Hampshire 64-3
Liam Dawson hoicks Harmer to the midwicket boundary, Daniel Sams takes it but steps over the rope. He flips the ball back in midair but drops it as he comes back into play. Either way, he saves runs and Hamphire get two more.

It’s missing leg, it's missing off… but that’s hitting halfway up middle.
This phase is really important. We’ll probably see Simon Harmer bowling his off-breaks to the right handers.
Liam Dawson is so important for this innings. He needs to bat five or six overs while rotating the strike. His task is to get 40 off 25 or 30 balls.
Hampshire 57-3
There was also a nice take from Rossington as the ball deflected up off the pad.
Anyway, here's Liam Dawson at number five to shore up Hampshire's stuttering innings.
Hampshire 57-3 v Essex
Gone! Pitching middle, hitting middle!
It has missed the bat and hit him on the back leg as he kneels for a slog...
Hampshire 57-2 v Essex
Essex think they have Prest LBW here, given not out on the field.
Hampshire 55-2 v Essex
What was with all this 'bad weather' stuff? It's cracking the flags at Edgbaston! At the moment...
Hampshire 54-2 v Essex
Lovely stuff from Adam Rossington as the Essex keeper whips off the bails to a Shane Snater delivery that Tom Prest's swing had missed. Not out though, the batter still in his crease.
Two balls later, Sam Cook pulls off a brilliant stop at point to halt a fierce square cut.

Good bowling, you have your field set on the leg side, that ball is middle and leg. James Vince has given himself some room to try and access the off-side but he's gone.
Two, three or four big screams from Shane Snater – he enjoyed that.
I’ve heard from Melissa Story that James Vince doesn’t score on Finals Day but that Hampshire still win, so…
Hampshire 50-2 v Essex
Tom Prest helps himself to four, hooking a short one from Sam Cook to the rope/spongey thing to get Hampshire to 50.

Beautiful start by Hampshire on what seems a beautiful day at a half-full Edgbaston.
But from this stunning view on the fourth floor, I hate to say that you can see the clouds not only building up but getting darker to the right over the back of the Hollies Stand, in the Sparkhill/Coventry direction.
And the outlook has suddenly got a little less brighter on the pitch for Hampshire too.
Hampshire 46-2 v Essex
Tom Prest and Joe Weatherley have a rebuilding job on their hands here.
Hampshire 43-2
That's a biggie for Essex!
James Vince had square-driven Shane Snater's first for four, but his drive over mid off did not have the elevation required and Simon Harmer took it cleanly to see off his opposite number
Hampshire 39-1
Er, what was I saying?
The Australian lifts Sam Cook high over square leg but does not get enough on it and Sams pouches it comfortably.
Here's Tom Prest.

I love the word just... when people say 'you just need to get these two out...' It's not easy.
These two started in the same vein last season against us in the quarter-final and they went on to post 180.
(Vince and McDermott made 93 inside 10 overs in a 104-run Hampshire win against Brathwaite's Birmingham Bears)
Hampshire 39-0 v Essex
McDermott is on fire here, driving a Cook full toss back past the bowler for another four.
