    Devine c Litchfield b Davidson-Richards 46 (Phoenix 83-6)

    A thorn no more!

More trouble at mid-off as Sophie Devine picks out Australian Phoebe Litchfield from Davidson-Richards.

A third wicket for her, and Phoenix are in big trouble with two new batters in the middle.

Superchargers will be the happier of the two sides but Sophie Devine may be a thorn in their side.

They've done well to limit her strike.

  3. Phoenix 83-5published at 75 balls

New batter Issy Wong takes two from an overthrow off Kate Cross' final ball.

  4. wicket

    Arlott run out (Davidson-Richards) 5 (Phoenix 81-5)

    That one is out though!

This time it's Emily Arlott trying to hurry through a single into the off side. Davidson-Richards is at mid-off and she throws down at the bowler's end - it's a direct hit and Arlott is gone!

  5. Umpire reviewpublished at 70 balls

    Phoenix 80-4

We're reviewing the final ball of Georgia Wareham's set. Devine pushes into the off side and heads off for a single.

Bess Heath collects the fielder's throw in front of the stumps and takes the bails off - but Arlott isn't in trouble, she's home and it turns out Heath knocked off a bail with her body.

  6. Phoenix 77-4published at 65 balls

A relatively sedate set from Linsey Smith, just the three from it. Superchargers will be in the hunt for opener Sophie Devine, who's on 41 from 30 balls.

Commentator Henry Moeran informs us that Devine has tattoos on both her elbows - a tennis racket for tennis elbow and a smiley face for the funny bone.

    Here's the Amy Jones wicket.

If you watch it then close your eyes and imagine Tess Flintoff playing the shot instead you'll know what happened for that wicket too.

  8. Phoenix 74-4published at 60 balls

Davidson-Richards clips the stumps as she comes through and new batter Emily Arlott takes three from the no ball.

Her final delivery is a shocker - it's heading down leg for what would be an obvious wide, but Devine decides to help the ball through for four down to backward square.

We're taking a strategic time-out now. What will they be saying in the Phoenix camp? Stop giving Leah Dobson catching practice?

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 56 balls

    Flintoff c Dobson b Davidson-Richards 3 (Phoenix 65-4)

Am I seeing a replay? That's Amy Jones' wicket again, isn't it?

Davidson-Richards finds more success with the short ball and once again a Phoenix batter pulls straight into the hands of Leah Dobson at deep square leg.

    Superchargers definitely on top now.

  10. Phoenix 65-3published at 55 balls

Superchargers continue with Wareham for a second set.

New batter Tess Flintoff takes three with a paddle shot before Sophie Devine finds the boundary as the ball breaks through Armitage - she'll be disappointed with that piece of fielding.

Superchargers have definitely won the last 25 balls taking the wickets and with the scoreboard only on 56.

    Burns c & b Wareham 3 (Phoenix 56-3)

    Wareham bags Burns!

The Phoenix batter looks to crash the spinner past her head but Wareham takes a remarkable catch, moving swiftly to grab the ball high to her right mid-way through her follow-through.

    Advantage Superchargers.

  13. Phoenix 54-2published at 46 balls

Superchargers introduce leggie Georgia Wareham into the attack.

Her first ball is too full and her compatriot Burns tries to take advantage, driving uppishly. Kate Cross dives to make the catch - no luck, but she keeps it to a single.

  14. Phoenix 53-2published at 45 balls

Grace Ballinger finds the pads of Sophie Devine, but captain Hollie Armitage isn't interested.

Ballinger finishes her spell with 24 runs from her 20 balls.

  15. 6 runs

    Phoenix 52-2published at 43 balls

A first six of the innings!

Grace Ballinger misjudges her line and Sophie Devine smashes her full toss over the long boundary at mid-wicket.

Here's the opening wicket of the game, and Kate Cross' first for Northern Superchargers.

  17. Phoenix 45-2published at 40 balls

The new batter is Australia's Erin Burns and she gets off the mark with a single into mid-on.

    A Jones c Dobson b Davidson-Richards 13 (Phoenix 44-2)

A second Jones back in the hutch!

Alice Davidson-Richards comes into the attack and has a wicket in her first set. She's bowling short and Amy Jones tries to pull her to the boundary - she can only find Leah Dobson riding the boundary at square leg.

A run-a-ball 13 for the England keeper, who'll be disappointed not to have made more of an impact.

  19. How's stat?!published at 15:25 British Summer Time 3 August 2023

Amy Jones will hope to make hay against the Northern Superchargers' spinners.

The England wicketkeeper-batter scores significantly quicker against spin than she does against seam.

    Jones has a strike-rate of 133.82 against off-spin, 132.53 against leg-spin but just 111.72 versus right-arm pace.

The one exception is left-arm orthodox spin, where Jones' strike-rate drops to 112.40. Maybe Linsey Smith is a good option against her?

  20. Phoenix 43-1published at 35 balls

Jones unsuccessfully tries the reverse sweep - the ball hits her pad and there's an extremely half-hearted appeal for lbw.

Better from the following delivery, she plays the same shot - although she's barely crouching, it's more of a reverse flick - for four.
